*Choose (1) one of the following projects to complete and present to your class*

1. Economics: The Bureau of Labor and Statistics issued these statistics on workers between the ages of 16 and 24 who were employed in July 1998. Use current BLS statistics to create a computer bar graph showing the numbers of young people working in different economic sectors. For example about 7 out of 8 youth worked in private business this summer. The largest employers were retail trade (7.4 million) and services (5.8 million).

2. Technology: In the 1950s it would have been hard to imagine the role of computers would play in our lives. One by-product of the computer revolution is the hundreds of new computer-related words we have added to our language. In a computer program simulation you design demonstrate what these new words are and what they mean and do.

3. PPT – Pop Culture: Use the standard PPT template to answer the following items: Why was there such a great demand for automobiles in the 1950s? What were the top selling automobiles in the 1950s decade? What automobile was the best selling automobile for the decade? What trends were taking shape in American music? Who were some of the music stars of the 1950s and why did they have such an appeal on their audience/listeners?
