Artist Guidelines for Art Shows
The Salvation Army of Augusta

Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center

The Art Department of the Kroc Center is pleased to partner with the arts community of the greater Augusta area, providing a venue where new and established artists may display their work. Our hope is that we will not only be able to provide opportunities for exposure of the artists’ work but will transport others who view the work into the creative vision encapsulated in any given piece of art.

Recognizing that art is an individual representation of a person’s thoughts and vision we in no way wish to censor the work of any one artist. We do, however, respectfully reserve the right to determine if work submitted for inclusion at the Kroc Center is appropriate for our family friendly environment and in no way depicts an image that is counter to our mission statement.
Our Mission:
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
A few thoughts to keep in mind as an artist chooses work to be shown at the Kroc Center:

  1. Although we do not require that pieces shown at the Kroc Center directly reflect our mission, we do require they not in any way portray a view that is in opposition to our mission.

  1. Please remember that the Kroc Center is open to individuals of all ages and that art will be on display in common areas. We ask that all art be “family friendly.”

  1. We ask that work done on canvas not be bigger than 30 x 40 unless the artist has spoken with the Arts and Education Department and they have agreed that we have adequate space for a larger piece.

  1. We will at times display three dimensional art as well. Due to space limitations, these pieces must be approved in advance through the Arts and Education Department.

  1. If an artist wishes to sell their work at the Kroc Center, they will be permitted to set their own price. A price sheet will be kept at the main desk for those who inquire about a purchase. The Salvation Army will collect purchase fees. A 30 % commission fee will be collected by The Salvation Army for all work sold. Checks for any pieces sold will be written at the end of the month after the end of a show. Anyone purchasing art must agree to allow the piece to hang through the end of a show.

  1. At times shows that hang at the Kroc Center will have a theme. Artists will be told if a theme exists for a given show and at that time may determine if they wish to display a piece.

  1. Times for work shown will vary. Artists will be notified when considering showing their work on the time limit of a given show. Artists will be responsible for delivering and picking up any pieces shown at the Kroc Center by the pre-agreed upon dates and times.

  1. The Kroc Center has the right to limit the number of works to be shown or that will be for sale by any one artist at any given time.

  1. Although every attempt will be made to keep work safe and secure, The Salvation Army will not be held responsible in any way for unforeseen damage to pieces on display. The artists understand that they are responsible for insuring their own work and agree they will not hold The Salvation Army liable in any way for damages or theft of any work on display at the Kroc Center.
