Jessica Loughlin
ARTIST STATEMENT
Through my work I aim to find the quiet space within the viewer, the aesthetics
evoking an emotional response without symbolism or narrative.
I often refer to the Australian landscape when thinking about my work. Within this
land there is an inherent sense of the vast. The horizon dissolves and the boundary
between land and sky blur, as does the boundary between this vast landscape and
myself. Being in this space creates stillness in my mind. Portraying this stillness has
remained a constant aim within my work.
