II PhD Students Training

Interdisciplinary-Multicultural-International

Rogow, Poland, 26-30 November 2014

First announcement

Objective

The objective is to give PhD students from the BUP network’s countries the possibility to meet and discuss scientific questions with focus on sustainable development in an interdisciplinary, international, multicultural, and regional context. In this way, students will also get the opportunity to become acquainted with other universities and their scientific traditions. The training program will be based on an interdisciplinary approach.

This international training program will enrich the students’ own perspectives on sustainable development with experiences and perspectives from other countries. At the same time it will serve as a platform for the development of a common understanding of the regional problematique and open avenues for future cooperation on these issues. Interdisciplinary training at the PhD-level is essential for creating an understanding between scientists and researchers with different backgrounds (Western and Eastern European cultures), and for their future collaboration for a sustainable future.

Methodology of the training

The training will take place 26-30 November 2014, with the participation of 30 PhD-students and an expert team. The participants will have different nationalities and academic backgrounds; 10 from the area of Engineering, 10 from the area of Humanities, and 10 from the area of Life Sciences

The training will have duration of 3 full days (with two days for travel).

The training program will be based on an interdisciplinary approach and focused on sustainable development. PhD-students will be offered training in interdisciplinary research cooperation with the guidance of an international group of experts composed of (other) senior scientists working on interdisciplinary research, benefiting from the interaction with them.
