Glynda O'HaraGlynda attended Bell Baxter between 1966 and 1972 then Moray House. She married in 1973 and lived in Edinburgh, Musselburgh, Glenrothes and Singapore before settling in Auchtermuchty in 1983. For 7 years she has served on the committee of the Auchtermuchty Festival Society, which has been chaired by her husband since 1990. Sheila Bernard O'MalleySheila O'Malley entered BBS in 1939. She spent 32 years in nursing, retiring as a Ward Sister. Eileen OliphantMrs Eileen Anderson (nee Oliphant) (1972) died in hospital on 31st October 2005 after a long illness. On leaving School, Eileen worked first in Scott's, the Draper's, and then in Fordyce's shop. Later she worked as a dispatcher with Fishers Laundry until she married in 1973. After taking a catering course at Elmwood College, she became a cook at Leuchars Primary School and in several nursing homes in the district. Eileen is survived by her husband, 2 sons and a daughter. James OliphantJames Oliphant (1950) died in February 2011 after many years of illness. James was a painter and decorator with Honeyman's business in the town and was highly regarded for his work. He succumbed to the dementia which had afflicted him at a tragically early age. He is survived by his wife and son. Kathleen OliphantMrs Kathleen Miller (née Oliphant) (1972) died suddenly, at home, on 29th October 2003. On leaving School she went to work in the County Buildings. She moved later to work for the NHS and latterly she was a receptionist in the Ladybank Health Centre. Kathleen is survived by her husband, Keith, and one daughter. Margaret OliphantMrs Margaret (Daisy) Lochhead (née Oliphant) (early 1940s) died suddenly at home in Cupar in 1997. She is survived by her three sons. Ian, Stuart, Graeme and daughter, Shona. Robin OliphantRobin Oliphant (1964/5) died suddenly in mid-January 2005. He trained originally as a heating engineer, but later became a postman, most recently serving the Kettle area. He was an accomplished golfer with several trophies to his name. He frequently played after finishing work, mainly at Hill of Tarvit, where he was a member. A keen Glasgow Rangers fan, he also man aged Springfield YM in the Tayside under-18 league. He enjoyed acting as handyman to friends and neighbours. He is survived by his wife and 2 sons. W R OliverDr W R Oliver entered BBS in 1937. He served in the Royal Air Force from 1944-48 and went to University 1948-52. He worked for Ferranti from 1952-56 and Robert Gordon’s Institute of Technology from 1957-86. He married Helen Yates (qv). Leila B OrchisonBBS 1937-40 Mrs Leila Storrar entered fourth year in BBS in 1937 having been educated first at Seymour Lodge School. She attended Dunfermline College of Physical Education from 1940-43 and taught PE at Kilmarnock Academy from 1943-48. She lived in Auchtermuchty. Leila was married to George Storrar in 1949. He had taken responsibility for the family farm at Rossie, Auchtermuchty, and Leila's life became that of the traditional farmer's wife. Tennis was Leila's passion. For many years she played with the Duffus Ladies Team and with some success in Midlands Tennis Competitions. Her son remembers that Wimbledon was the only time of year when meal times at Rossie were a little inconsistent. Leila shared her husband's interest in rugby. She was a founder member of the Cupar Rotary Inner Wheel and a supporter of the Red Cross. She enjoyed playing bridge. She was an active member of the Bow of Fife Church and, after it closed, of Cupar Old Parish Church. Latterly she had been resident in a Nursing Home in Edinburgh, after her health began to fail, and died there on 8th February 2012. She was predeceased by her husband in 1993 and is survived by two daughters and one son. Roger OrrRoger Orr has been promoted to the rank of Detective Superintendent with Lothian & Borders police. Roger was School Captain in 1974/75 and began his career with Grampian Police. He transferred to Edinburgh in 1980 and joined the CID soon afterwards. He served in the Scottish Crime Squad from 1985 to 1988. Since 1992 he has been Detective Chief Inspector responsible for the Leith, East & Midlothian divisions. Roger is the son of Mrs Margaret Orr (née Muir). Bert OvenstoneBert Ovenstone (1962) was in charge of editorial control of Grampian Television news programme, North Tonight. He was appointed head of news in January 1998, having previously been news editor. Bert began his career as a junior reporter on the staff of the Fife Herald. George Hair Pagan-1916) George Pagan became a student at the University of Glasgow after leaving school. At some point he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Black Watch and was posted supernumerary to the 7th (Fife) Battalion, The Black Watch (Royal Highlanders). Lieutenant Pagan was killed in action in France on 31st July 1916. His father, Robert Osborne Pagan, endowed a prize in his memory, the Lieutenant Hair Pagan Prize, which was first awarded in 1919. Translation and essay were to be set and marked by Staff, and an examiner was to give an oral examination in French or another selected language. There was strong emphasis on oral work and, until World War II, a School Inspector came each year to examine the pu pils orally, and, for some time after that, the essay was set by one of HM Inspectors.
