  • Led a team to develop the first hybrid mobile application for the Commercial Line of Business.

  • Introduced agile concepts to the project team, thus changing the project’s dependency structure allowing the project to deliver by the initial target date.

  • Created a mobile banking RESTful API, using Spring-MVC, which helped in persuading upper management to embrace a Software as a Service (SaaS) approach to their product offerings.

Mobile Developer 01/12 – Present

  • Partner in a startup that offers web, video, photography, social media integration, and mobile solutions.

  • Developed a custom calculator for fork lift operators in warehouses so they can calculate if a sheet of metal will put too much stress on a fork lift. This app is available on android, ios, and the company’s web site.

  • Created an android sound board application to compliment a viral YouTube video.

  • Prototyped a small business customer survey during Startup Weekend. The survey was contextually aware based on location controlled with Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.


American Modern Insurance Group – Amelia, OH 07/09 – 10/13

Java Developer II (12/11 – 10/13)

  • Worked on several projects using a Scrum based agile methodology.

  • Developed an external web service for strategic partners to be able to obtain a quote within our system. This service is expected to generate around $1.5 million additional profit over a 5 year period.

  • Assisted and mentored other developers and architects in the design and implementation of new and existing applications.

  • Upgraded WebSphere to version 8.0 and replaced the IDE with an open source solution, which saved the company $130,000 per year in licensing and support costs.

  • Developed a JEE application using both Struts and Spring to integrate two web services into one interface to streamline data entry for the commercial insurance division.

  • Partnered with company headquarters in New Jersey for rapid prototyping to demonstrate solutions for business problems and planning the remaining 7 iterations of an agile project.

  • Developed an external web service for a third party consumer portal to reduce billing related calls by 30%.

Environment Administrator / Java Developer I (12/10 –12/11)

  • Worked on a team that managed the deployment and configuration of Java applications for 23 environments.

  • Enhanced environment monitoring system to detect hung threads, core dumps, and high CPU utilization, alerting production support in real-time, thus increasing response times.

  • Developed an encryption application with Swing and incorporated a command line interface enabling a secure way to store passwords in environment configuration files.

  • Developed reporting application for release management that aggregated data from an HP Quality Center database and manual entry to automatically update a dashboard that provided a graphical real-time view of release statuses.

  • Facilitated branching and merging activities in Subversion (SVN) allowing developers to continue development with minimal conflicts and downtime due to code freezes.


User Experience/Interface Designer (10/09 – 12/10)

      • Updated all enterprise applications to be cross-browser compliant by validating html and resolving JavaScript errors in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Google Chrome.

      • Created HP Quick Test scripts for each application that ran TIDY to verify valid HTML.

      • Created functional proof of concept prototypes to explicate complexity for projects.

Underwriting Coordinator Intern (07/09 – 09/09)

  • Assisted 12 underwriters in servicing customers’ policies valued up to $30,000.

      • Programmed in a language called Mathematica to simulate mathematical results.

      • Received a grant of $3,500 to mathematically explore the properties and behaviors of star formation for 8 weeks with faculty mentor

      • Became knowledgeable on the astrophysics behind star formation.

      • At conclusion of research wrote The Gravitational Collapse of Molecular Cloud Cores Prior to Star Formation: A Numerical Approach, a comprehensive analysis of research.

      • Presented results at the annual Mathematics Honor Society conference in Miami, OH, and at the national Mathematical Association of America conference in Washington, D. C.
