CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern Railway use the rail for track maintenance and repair projects throughout their systems. For eight years, the Port of Wilmington has been CSX Transportation’s port of choice to receive, store and load out their rail. For the last six years, Norfolk Southern has relied on the Port of Morehead City for the same services. The rail is sourced from Italy, Eastern Europe and Japan. Terminal Shipping Company was the agent and Metro Ports was the stevedore for these shipments.
