NYACK’S HARGROVE, NYMAN EARN TOP CACC BASEBALL HONORS
Reardon Named Coach of Year; USP Wins Team Sportsmanship Award
NEWARK, N.J. – Taylor Hargrove of Nyack College was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Player of the Year and Nyack’s J.V. Nyman earned Pitcher of the Year honors in balloting released today. Chris Reardon of Caldwell College was voted Coach of the Year by his peers. The balloting was done by the league’s nine head coaches.
Hargrove, a senior second-baseman from Denver, Colorado, led the CACC in batting (.476), slugging (.833) and on-base percentage (.549) before a late-season injury caused him to fall under the at-bat minimum. In just 26 games, he had nine doubles, three triples, five homeruns, 17 stolen bases, 31 runs scored and 26 runs batted in.
Nyman won his first seven decisions of the season in winning the league’s inaugural Pitcher of the Year award. He finished 7-2 with a 2.86 earned run average, a .281 opponent batting average, and 41 strikeouts in 56 2/3 innings, leading the CACC in victories. A senior right-hander, Nyman hails from Tuczon, Arizona.
Reardon led the Cougars to their first-ever conference baseball championship with a 12-4 league record. Caldwell’s 20-11 overall mark is an improvement of five wins and 240 percentage points (.405 to .645) over last season.
The CACC’s annual Team Sportsmanship Award went to University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, coached by Jack Bilbee.
The league also announced the all-CACC teams, which are listed on the next page.
