Saturday Night’s Main Event #2: “Uncle Elmer Gets Married” (10/5/1985, East Rutherford, NJ)
WORLD TITLE FLAG MATCH: HULK HOGAN vs. NIKOLAI VOLKOFF Surprisingly good, considering who’s involved. Hulk wins the match and then does some really offensive things to the Soviet Union flag.
UNCLE ELMER vs. “Gentleman” JERRY VALIANT Jerry was brought out of retirement for this match, and Elmer flattens him in six seconds to set “a new World Wrestling Federation record.”
SPECIAL DELIVERY JONES vs. KING KONG BUNDY from WrestleMania I. This is shown to establish that Elmer has beaten Bundy’s bogus record.
THE BODY SHOP with guest Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, who announces he’s doubling the bounty on Paul Orndorff’s head to $50,000.
“Mr. Wonderful” PAUL ORNDORFF vs. “Rowdy” RODDY PIPER Piper does a hysterical pre-match interview, and the match itself is a great brawl by the standards of the time.
THE WEDDING OF UNCLE ELMER One of the best skits of all time, thanks largely to Roddy Piper and Jesse Ventura. One question, though: Was it going to kill Andre the Giant to, you know, wear some clothes during this skit?
ANDRE THE GIANT & TONY ATLAS vs KING KONG BUNDY & BIG JOHN STUDD Bundy & Studd are DQ’ed for their nefariousness, but Hulk Hogan runs in to make the save when all looks hopeless.
GENE OKERLUND INTERVIEWS GEORGE “The Animal” STEELE at the Detroit Zoo, where I guess we’re supposed to think George lives.
WWF TAG TITLE MATCH: BRUTUS BEEFCAKE & GREG “The Hammer” VALENTINE vs. TONY GAREA & “Leaping” LANNY POFFO Beefcake & Valentine’s first title defense. The US Express sits at ringside to cheer on Garea and Poffo, as if they really have a chance in hell.
ELMER & JOYCE’S WEDDING RECEPTION with Lou Albano’s etiquette lessons, poetry by Lanny Poffo and Jesse Ventura, a surprise appearance by Tiny Tim, Ventura getting thrown into a cake, and a country hoedown.

Saturday Night’s Main Event #3: “The Dream Team” (11/2/1985, Hershey, PA)
JUNKYARD DOG vs TERRY FUNK JYD loses, so he retaliates by tearing off Jimmy Hart’s pants and branding him.
PIE-EATING CONTEST: CAPTAIN LOU ALBANO vs KING KONG BUNDYBundy loses and gets ticked, so he hits Captain Lou with a pie, making this the third straight episode of SNME where someone gets hit with a pastry.
PIPER’S PIT with Hillbilly Jim, Cousin Junior, and Uncle Elmer. Roddy asks questions about the wedding night, which offends Elmer, who calls him on the carpet about the disparaging remarks made during the wedding. Roddy blames Jesse Ventura, who comes to the ring and almost gets a 3-on-1 beating until Piper and Bob Orton make the save.
THE GREAT PUMPKIN DUNK: COUSIN JUNIOR vs BOBBY “The Brain” HEENAN
HULK HOGAN & ANDRE THE GIANT vs KING KONG BUNDY & BIG JOHN STUDD Again, Studd and Bundy double-team Andre, and again, Hulk makes the save.
LAND OF 1,000 DANCES music video premiere. This is really poorly done by WWF standards. The redone, improved version the WWF gave MSNBC for their Jesse Ventura documentary is much better and more akin to what should have been done when it was first produced.
INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH: TITO SANTANA vs RANDY “Macho Man” SAVAGE This is one of the earliest appearances of Elizabeth. Elizabeth was always hot, but the announcers always really oversold her beauty, as is evidenced by Vince McMahon here.
TRICK OR TREATING WITH ROWDY RODDY PIPER A hilarious skit where Roddy makes his own special treats for young children, mostly disguised bowling balls and bricks. Funnier than I can possibly make it sound.
KUNG-FU CHALLENGE: RICKY “The Dragon” STEAMBOAT vs. MISTER FUJI Don Muraco is at ringside to return the favor by “managing” Fuji. Now tell me what happens.
PUMPKIN PASS- Okay, you probably played this game at an elementary school Halloween party. They have those smaller grown pumpkins, and you put it under your chin and try to pass it to your partners, so they have the heels vs. the faces. It’s a dumb skit, but I’ve always been amused by one minor detail here. When the pass comes between Roddy Piper and Elizabeth, watch closely for where Roddy’s hand goes.

Saturday Night’s Main Event #4: “The Body’s Last Stand” (1/4/1986, Tampa, FL)
UNCLE ELMER, HILLBILLY JIM, & COUSIN LUKE vs. “Rowdy” RODDY PIPER, “Cowboy” BOB ORTON, & JESSE “The Body” VENTURA One of the governor’s last matches.
WATER SLIDE RACE: JUNKYARD DOG vs. JIMMY HART Jimmy issued this challenge to get revenge for getting branded, but JYD wins anyway.
WORLD TITLE MATCH: HULK HOGAN vs. TERRY FUNK Hulk brings JYD to the ring to counter Jimmy Hart. I wasn’t aware of this until I read it in one of Rick Scaia’s columns, but apparently a lot of fans were under the impression that the title would be changing hands here.
GEORGE “The Animal” STEELE vs. RANDY “Macho Man” SAVAGE George’s first match in seven months, and the first time he ever sees Elizabeth, setting off the 17-month-long Steele-Savage feud.
1985 YEAR IN REVIEW MUSIC VIDEO set to “The Tough Get Going,” and featuring mostly clips of previous SNME episodes and WrestleMania.
PEACE MATCH: CORPORAL KIRSCHNER vs. NIKOLAI VOLKOFF The idea here is that it will be a purely scientific contest, but that dirty Nikolai still cheats and gets what would be a clean pin if it weren’t a “Peace Match.” This has to be the best match of Kirschner’s career, and as a fun historical footnote, the referee here just happens to be a young Dean Malenko!
JUNKYARD DOG & RICKY “The Dragon” STEAMBOAT vs. MAGNIFICENT MURACO & MISTER FUJI Boy, we’ve seen a lot of JYD on this episode.
