Deep Sea Fishing Club Minutes

October 1, 2016
President Davison called the meeting to order at 9:00 am and led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. There 18 new members and 4 members renewing their dues. President Davison offered to stay after the meeting to meet with the new members and answer any questions they may have about the club.
OLD BUSINESS: Steve Newman, Coordinator for the Pastime Princess, conducted a discussion relative to the Pastime Princess being sold and charters ending on that boat by the end of October. Steve has briefly looked at the following party boats as possibly replacements for the Pastime. In the
Atlantic;

Ocean Obessions-Port Canaveral

Orlando Princess-Cape Canaveral

Critter Fleet-Ponce Inlet

Sea Sprit-Ponce Inlet
Gulf of Mexico;

Miss Virginia-Port Richey

Dolphin Deep Sea-Tarpon Springs

Sundance II-Tarpon Springs

Queen Fleet-Clearwater

Double Eagle-Clearwater


The membership made a motion, that was passed, for the club to look into the details of each party boat and bring the finding back to an upcoming meeting for discussion and a decision on which boat, or boats, to try out. In addition the membership voted to hold the cost of the charters to $75.00 understanding that items such as mate tips, fish cleaning, etc. could come as an additional cost over and above the cost of the charter.
President Davison informed the members that there would be info put on the web site concerning the above and encouraged them to watch for updates as details on each charter are revealed.

Additionally, under old business, members were reminded that Vice President Everett Belter makes sinkers and brings them to the December meeting for our members obtain. Everett is needing donated lead, in any form, which will be used to melt down and mold the sinkers.


FISHING REPORTS FOR SEPTEMBER; Pastime Princess-cold water continued to harbor bottom fishing in the Atlantic. Limited keeper fish were caught this month. Thunder-heavy rains but several grunts and 2 keeper grouper were caught. Captain Fussell-red fish, trout. Captain Muldrow-red fish, black drum, trout. Captain Robinson-red fish, trout. Captain Scaccia-blue fish, trout, red fish, flounder, sea bass. Captain Shannon-red fish, trout, sharks.
NEW BUSINESS: Chuck Tomney, a fishing club member, made a presentation on dates that Good Time Charters has made available to the club. The boat is based out of Fort Pierce offering full day trips in the Atlantic as well as 4 day 3 night trips to the Bahamas. The Ocean Yacht Super Sport is a 55’ vessel with 3 state rooms, 2 heads, kitchen, salon, 7 tuna tower. The boat targets many species including dolphin, wahoo, sailfish, and blue marlin. The dates available to the club are October 6, 8 and November 2, 25, 26, & 27. Also under new business President Davison reminded that Steve Newman would be conducting a knot tying class immediately following the regular meeting and encouraged members to participate.


OTHER BUSINESS; Treasurer Joann Swafford read the financial report and handled the 100% raffle. The winners were Oscar Lobering, Mo Davison, Mady Crowl, Jeff Boyden, Dale Christy, Cliff Asdal, Walter Piertras, Jaye Wolfe, Carl Rew, & Bill Smart.
Next meeting Saturday November 5, 2016.
