ABSTRACT:

Abstract

Certain changes have been proposed to be incorporated in the TR41.1.1 draft.

Item 1

For clarity, it will be better to include the constraints with the mandatory requirements
Proposal : Change

5.1.10.3 from ‘Dial tone shall be sent to the analog telephone port when the terminal adapter is ready to accept address signals.’ To

5.1.10.3 Dial tone shall be sent from the analog telephone port to indicate that the terminal adapter is ready to accept address signals within 500ms after telephone equipment has gone to off-hook state
Item 2

Even though this ATA standard shall not include pulse dialing specification, to remove any ambiguity it should indicate what would be the behavior of ATA if a pulse dial telephone equipment is attached to ATA.
Proposal

Add

5.1.11.6 The analog telephone port may not support pulse dial and therefore may or may not remove dial tone in response to pulse dialing from telephone equipment.

Item 3

Section 5.1.11.5 describes a disconnect signal that is sent by the ATA. For clarity, it needs to be defined what it is.
Proposal

Add – Analog Telephone adapter disconnect signal appears as no DC voltage (no loop current) between tip and ring for a period of at least 600 ms.

Item 4

Section 5.1.14.1 has the ambiguity of on-hook time interval between 150ms to 300ms. This period should either be included on the ignore side (item 1) OR itemize the period as reserved for future use.
Proposal :

In section 5.1.14.1, add another subheading between 1 and 2 as

‘Reserved on-hook intervals of 150ms to 300ms for future use.’
Item 5

Section 5.1.15.5 needs time specification for ATA to wait before taking any of the listed action.
Proposal :

Change ‘5.1.15.5 If the analog telephony equipment remains off-hook after receiving a call termination signal from the network and the sending of the disconnect signal (if sent), the terminal adapter analog telephone port shall take one of the following actions:’

To

5.1.15.5 If the analog telephony equipment remains off-hook after receiving a disconnect signal from the Analog telephone adapter, the terminal adapter analog telephone port shall wait at least 2 seconds and take one of the following actions:’
