EXCLUSIVE CLUB COMMUNITY, SOUTHEAST FLORIDA GENERAL MANAGER
This outstanding community was established in 1989 and is a casually elegant family-oriented sporting community and private club spanning 416-acres on a lush barrier island between the Indian River and the Atlantic Ocean, eight miles north of the town of Vero Beach, Florida. Every detail of this New Urbanism development is designed for life — for each member, their family, and their community. The seaside Village features architecture and landscape design that celebrates local history, climate, ecology, and traditional building practices. The community consists of the Village and the South Village, each with memorable streets and squares, complemented by estates on the perimeter of the golf course and along the Atlantic Ocean. The Town Centre is located at the heart of the Village. The golf course greens feature an undulating panorama of native trees that border gentle rolling fairways, unobstructed by houses. The 18-hole links style course is a masterpiece in traditional golf course architecture designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. The Club also has a professional golf shop as well as a 400 yard long driving range and a 6,000 sq. ft. outdoor practice putting green. The Club enjoys eight Har-Tru™ tennis courts, designed by Wimbledon champion Stan Smith. A 25 metre pool and eight private cabanas are located at the Beach Club and an elevated boardwalk, designed to preserve the natural dune, provides beach access from the pool area. A private tunnel provides convenient pedestrian and golf cart access from the Village Centre to the ocean side amenities. The Fitness Centre lets Members take their active lifestyle indoors without compromising a moment of the community’s beautiful and inspiring landscape. The Equestrian Centre boasts 18 stables and 14 paddocks, as well as jumping, dressage and lunging rings. The full-scale Equestrian Centre offers boarding, maintenance, lessons and riding for recreation, as well as a 400-yard long polo field for exhibition matches. There is also a Gun Club, located off-site, features new clay shooting games from England and Europe. Membership in the Club is by invitation only and is limited to 350. Of those, 295 are Golf Memberships. Vero Beach is considered one of the most desirable areas to live within Florida, and is convenient to both Orlando and the greater West Palm Beach areas.
The General Manager will lead and direct the Food & Beverage operation, Sporting Amenities (including Tennis, Fitness, Equestrian, and Gun Club), Membership Director, Concierge Services, Access Control and Property Management functions and take full accountability and responsibility for running all operations, exceeding member expectations at every opportunity. Essentially all club and community operations except golf and development activities (with which there is significant ‘coordination’ needs) will be under the responsibility of the General Manager. The General Manager will be expected to provide timely information and effective, respectful leadership to the staff. The ideal candidate must practice a consistently and intuitively respectful, "hands on" management style, and must be regularly visible and engaged with guests, members and employees. Proven outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, are required, as is the ability to occasionally travel to make joint presentations (with the real estate representative) on behalf of the Club and Community to prospective new members. He/she will monitor the execution of service quality involving all departments in compliance with clearly defined service standards and will develop strategies and programs to enhance the entire guest and member experience. He/she will plan, develop and approve specific operational policies, programs, procedures and methods in concert with general policies and the owner’s objectives. The successful new GM should have: A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in private club operations, member-owned residential club communities or resort hospitality environments. Current or past affiliation with upscale, high-end residential community clubs or destination resort/communities with top reputations is most attractive. Previous significant experience with direct and specific responsibility managing and/or interfacing with a Property Owners’ Association is highly desirable. Strong general management skills with verifiable strengths in financial performance, diverse recreational amenity management, quality food and beverage programming, team development, exceptional member/owner/guest service programming, strategic planning, project management, community/common area related issues and, most importantly, the ability to consistently define and achieve goals and objectives are all critically important in this role. The General Manager will report directly to the President of the Development Company, and will interface and support the owner’s wishes and policy directives. A degree and the CCM are preferred. This position is available immediately.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. A bonus plan will be offered. A typical benefits program is included with a CMAA package.
