Questions about TV Service


When can I get TV service?


Allied expects to begin offering TV service in October 2010. You will be able to pre-subscribe to services beginning in July in anticipation of service availability.

What channels can I get?


See the attached channel line up.

Will I be able to watch prime time TV programming during prime time?


You will be able to watch your favorite TV shows at their intended viewing times. Prime time shows are broadcast in prime time. News and sports programming will continue to be broadcast in real time or “live”.

Do I need a set top box to subscribe to Allied service?


Yes. You will need a set top box. Allied will provide the first Standard Definition set top box as part of the service. Additional set top boxes and High Definition boxes are available for an additional fee.

Will my existing TV work with Allied’s TV service?


Yes. Allied’s service uses standard US television system signals.

Can I get a Digital Video Recorder (DVR/PVR) Set Top?


Yes. DVR Set Tops are available for an additional nominal fee.

Can I get Digital Television service?


All of the new channels will be digital.

Can I get High Definition Channels?


Yes. Residents at Misawa and Camp Zama will be the first to have US content in High Definition on any US Military base in Japan.

How much will TV service cost?


The service cost is based on the packages that you select. The prices for the packages are as follows:

  • PlusTV - $49.95 monthly USD

  • Showtime/The Movie Channel 2 Channel Premium Package - +$14.95 monthly USD

  • Starz/Encore! 2 Channel Premium Package - +$11.50 monthly USD

  • High Definition Package - +$4.50 monthly USD

  • Additional fees

    • Set Top Box Rental – Prices vary based on the model. Call for details.

    • New Service Activation fee $40.00 USD

    • Change fee $10.00 USD

    • Hourly Service Charge $45/hour USD

Movie Channel subscribers must have Plus TV. All service packages, components, features and prices are subject to change. Please check with the Allied office for details.

Can I still get AFN channels if I don’t want to subscribe to Allied TV service?


Yes. The existing AFN channels will continue to be available for all residents on base.

Will you get additional channels in the future?


Allied is continuously evaluating available content.

I like to record programs for later viewing. Will this be available?


DVR boxes to record your favorite shows and play them back when you want are available.  

General Questions

Will I have to pay a security deposit?


No security deposit is required for customers who use our autopay service to automatically charge their credit card for their bill.

How will I get my bill?


Allied uses Electronic Bill Presentation and Payment (EBPP). You will receive billing notices via email and can pay them either on line or in the Allied store.

How can I pay my bill?


You can pay your bill on line, by mail, or in person in the Allied store. You may also set up your account to automatically charge your credit card or bank account using the Allied Autopay function.

When is my bill due?


Invoices are sent out on the 1st of every month electronically and due to us by the 20th.

Will Allied have an office on Base?


Yes. Allied will have an office on the Base. The office will be located in the PX Services Mall.

How do I order service?


You will be able to order service in person in the Allied store or by calling our customer service center at 415-692-8300.

What hours will the Allied store be open?


The Allied store will be open Monday through Friday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The Allied telephone customer service center is open Monday through Sunday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The on-line payment system is available 24 hours per day.

How do I contact Allied?


Until the store is opened you can contact Allied at 415-692-8300 (US Telephone Number) or via email at atccstore@armed-svc.com

Can I stop service temporarily if I’m deployed for 3 to 6 months?


Yes, with a copy of your orders you may temporarily stop service and reactivate it with no reconnection or activation fee.

Questions about Telephone Service

When will telephone service be available?


Telephone service will be available in October. Allied will contact you in advance to set up your account and assist you in selecting a telephone number.

How much does Telephone service cost?


Allied has several packages available that range in cost from $29.95 to $36.00.

Will I get a US telephone number or a Japan telephone number?


Allied makes US telephone numbers available to our customers. This permits friends and family in the US to contact them without incurring international long distance charges. It also permits you to call friends and family without incurring international long distance charges.

If I have a US telephone number, won’t my calls within Japan be international?


In some cases. All on-network calls (calls on Allied’s system both at Zama and Yokota) and calls to and from the DSN are free. In addition Allied provides local access numbers that ensure calls from Japan numbers to those access numbers will be local calls. You may also elect to have an optional personal Japan number for the purpose of completing incoming calls at local rates. Outbound calls from your US phone number to Japan numbers will be International calls.

Does Allied provide 911 service?


Yes. Allied’s telephone service is interfaced with the base telephone switch to facilitate 911 and other DSN calls.

Can I pick my telephone number?


Yes. Allied allows you to select a telephone number from major markets where Allied has contracted in the US.

Can I keep my DSN service?


Not for personal use. Once your neighborhood is transitioned to Allied’s service, the DSN service will be discontinued.

Can I still call DSN numbers?


Yes. Allied’s telephone service is interfaced with the base telephone switch to permit calls to and from the DSN network.

Questions about Internet Access

When will Internet service be available?


Internet service will be available beginning in October. Service will be enabled on each part of the base as equipment installation is completed.

How much does Internet service cost?


Allied has service plans that range from $39.00 to $149.95 per month.

What Internet packages are available?


Packages are available ranging from 2 MB to 30 MB download speeds. 100 MB fiber services will be available where facilities are available.

Can I keep my existing Internet service?


As equipment is installed and Allied services are available, except for limited cases, you will be transitioned from your existing provider to Allied.
