NJSUSBCWBA Membership Alert
Have you ever considered the value of ONE DOLLAR? You have probably come to the conclusion that, with our tough economy these days, you can’t really buy much with it so it’s not worth anything. But there is something very valuable that one dollar can purchase. That is your New Jersey State USBC WBA membership. You know; the very same one you have had for all these years. Some of you have not purchased this membership for 2008-2009. Your membership in the NJ State Women’s Association includes enhanced benefits and services in addition to what you receive through your local association. A few examples are:
Administrative support for all Local Associations
Annual Championship Tournament
Senior Tournament
Queens Tournament
600 Club Tournament
Inter-county High average Tournament
Updated policy, legislation, rules, etc. from USBC
Individual Accomplishment Awards – 650 series, 265 game, High Average, High Series
Without NJ State Women’s membership, you are not recognized by the state and are not eligible for any of these tournaments or awards. Before the recent USBC merger, we paid WIBC dues for Local, State, and National all in one lump sum. The language on the membership cards was changed to indicate that the state membership is ‘optional’. Technically, it is, but not if you want access to the full array of services offered by the NJ Women’s association. The USBC national merger means that there is now ONE national fee. Some local associations have merged and now those locals have one fee. The state associations are not merged. The NJ State Women’s association has ALWAYS had a small portion of the total membership fee. It is important to note that the organizations are not competing; they simply provide different levels of services. Many women join local men’s associations separately and that’s great. But, some of you may not be aware that you don’t have a state membership. So, don’t sell yourself short. So check with your league secretary now. Don’t wait until you want to bowl in a tournament or expect to receive an award to find out you are not a member. Your women’s state membership is vital for you to be eligible for the full array of services. Please make sure you are a full member of the USBC national, AND women’s state and local organizations, just like when it was good old WIBC.
2008 New Jersey State Queens
The NJ State Queens tournament was held on Sunday, September 14, 2008 at The Lanes at Sea Girt in Sea Girt. This is the 2nd year the tournament was held in the September timeframe.
