Q

Rumors say putting CityU in Band B = no chance to get in, is that TRUE?

Ans

CityU: 2016 entrance >90% Band A, ~6% Band B

Its just that when students who put CityU as Band A tends to have better grades.

Q

Will participating institutes know about the EXACT position of programme choice?

Some institutes claimed that they know because they checked students’ login time.

Ans

JUPAS: NO, its not true.

Q

Will HKU, EduHK, HKBU & LingU consider M1&M2 as separate elective?

Ans

HKU: No, as HKEAA still not sees M1 & M2 as FULL elective.

LingU: No, same as HKU.

EduHK: In 2017 admission, M1 & M2 will not classified as a separate elective in meeting the 4+1 elective minimum entrance requirement, BUT will be included in the BEST 5 scores calculation.

HKBU: same as EdUHK. Moreover, in 2017 admission, BBA will be split into 8 separate programmes instead of 1 single broad discipline BBA. And in 2018 admission, Faculty of Art, Communication will raise its minimum entrance requirement from 4+1 to 4+2, with the 2 elective at minimum Level 3.

Q

Any changes in admission score calculation for 2017?

Ans

CityU: remains 4+2 as general entrance requirement, M1 & M2 as elective, 26/28 programme use 4+2 as calculation, 2/28 use BEST 5 as calculation.

HKBU: Weightings will be disclosed, e.g. English, *also accept TOFEL & IELTS 6.5 (in replacing HKDSE Lv. 3).

PolyU: All programmes  4+2 as general entrance requirement, M1 & M2 as elective, score calculations: if 5 subjects as requirement: best 5 / chin+Eng+best 3 with weighting. If 6 subjects as requirement: best 6/ chin+Eng+best 4 with weightings.

CUHK: some programmes will use BEST 5 as calculation, details will be announced via webpage.

QFin related (3 programmes), delete M1/M2 as specific requirements, but will still count as elective.

HKUST: BBA finance & QFin: Eng+Maths+best4  weightings changed.

HKU: some calculations will be changed from 4+2 to BEST 5.

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery; Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Biomedical Science  BEST 6

LingU: M1 & M2 not counted as elective, weightings only apply to: Chin, Eng & Maths.

EduHK: same as previous years, but if to study Chin, Eng & Maths related programme, 2016 admission’s mean score in specific discipline ALL have Lv 5 or above.

OUHK: no change.

Q

Any Interview performance indicators? How is the results of interview reflected?

Ans

CityU & BU: students interview’s scores normally use as tiebreaker.

If good performance: + points, but does not have standardized benchmark.

EduHK: very transparent, will acknowledge students if the interview was poor and students will not be accepted.

(e.g. show no interests/ opinions on Ed-related / social issues, not involve in discussions)

HKU: will let them know the results, just PAY CLOSE ATTENSION to the use of words.
