How to Form Verb Tenses in the ACTIVE voice.

For verbs of the 1^st conjugation (-are) and the 2^nd conjugations (-ere):

Present Tense: (-----s, is/are-----ing)

1. Go to the 2^nd principal part and drop the –re

2. Add the personal endings (**,–s, -t, -mus, -tis, -nt)

** = the 1^st person singular is the 1^st principal part.

Imperfect Tense: (was/were----ing)

1. Go to the 2^nd principal part and drop the –re

2. Add the personal endings (-bam,–bas, -bat, -bamus, -batis, -bant)

Future Tense: (will-------)

1. Go to the 2^nd principal part and drop the –re

2. Add the personal endings (-bo,–bis, -bit, -bimus, -bitis, -bunt)

Perfect Tense: (----ed, has/have-----ed)

1. Go to the 3rd principal part and drop the –i.

2. Add the personal endings (**,–isti, -it, -imus, -istis, -erunt)

** = the 1^st person singular is 3^rd principal part
