Writing 1002 Grammar and Editing Practice for Test 2: Revision and editing
In Writing 1002, grammar exercises will test primarily error-correction. The exercises will cover the following errors, which will be explained in Week 11:
1) Sentence Fragments
2) Comma Splices
3) Run-on Sentences
4) Subject-Verb Disagreement
5) Verb Tense Errors
6) Verb Form and Word Form Errors
While students will work on isolated sentence-level errors, to allow them to isolate errors and find solutions, the real evaluation will happen at the paragraph level, allowing them to edit larger stretches of text for multiple errors.
When students are asked to edit stretches of academic text, they will also have to be aware of citation conventions, basic punctuation, and referencing.
