Hot Spark Award: This award is intended for a new leader who has contributed to the unit in an enthusiastic and positive manner. This is a unit award. There may be multiple awards for a unit for the same year. This is a unit award and the prospective recipient MUST be selected by their unit committee. It is the responsibility of the individual unit to decide how these award recipients will be named. Neither the district Advancement Committee nor the district awards selection committee will select any recipients for this award. All recipients for this award must be submitted on the district website using the form for submitting Hot Spark recipients for the unit.
Godsend Award: This award is intended for a unit leader who has contributed significantly to the program, operation, and/or overall success of the unit. Someone whose contributions made a noticeable impact upon the unit. This is a unit award and the recipient MUST be selected by the unit committee. It is the responsibility of the individual unit to decide how these award recipients will be selected. Neither the district Advancement Committee nor the district awards selection committee will select any recipients for this award. All recipients for this award must be submitted on the district website using the form for submitting the Godsend Award recipient for the unit.
There may be ONLY ONE recipient for this award per unit per year.
The recipient need NOT be a registered adult leader with the unit.
District volunteers may also be considered for this award, but MUST be selected by the Key Four members of the district where the district is considered to be the “unit.”
An individual MAY be selected to receive multiple Godsend Awards in the same year, however, these multiple award selections MUST NOT be made by the same unit. (Example: Bob is named as the Godsend Award recipient for Pack 999 and Troop 7766 for the same year.)
Any Godsend Award recipient may be selected by a unit to receive this award in multiple years. (Example: Bob was the recipient of the Godsend Award for Pack 999 in 2013, AND he has been selected to receive it again by Pack 999 in 2016.)
The District Advancement Committee provides the award name plate and certificate at the expense of the unit. This cost is approximately $10 at this time. Payment for this award must be made payable to the “Atlanta Area Council,” or simply “AAC.” Payment must be remitted to the District no later than the date of the annual district awards banquet.
Scout Spirit Award: This award is intended for the registered Scouter in the District who has lived and shown the greatest amount of Scout Spirit, both in scouting and away from scouting in their daily walk of life. This is a District award of which only one will be presented each year. The nominations for this award may be made by anyone and shall be submitted on the District Award Nomination form found on the Indian Springs District Website.
Shining Light Award: This award is presented to an organization or business in the community of the District that has contributed to the success and operation of the District and its program through selfless and significant means. This is a District Award that will be selected by the District Key Four and the District Advancement Committee Awards Selection Committee. The nominations for this award may be made by anyone and shall be submitted on the District Award Nomination form.
Hands On Award: This award is presented to the Scouter who has provided the greatest amount of “hands on” work within the scope of the district program throughout the year. This is a District award of which only one will be presented each year. The nominations for this award may be made by anyone and shall be submitted on the District Award Nomination form found on the Indian Springs District Website.
Scout Family Award: This award is presented to the Scout Family who has given the greatest overall contributions to the success of Scouting within the district through the performance above and beyond the call of duty as a family to either a unit or the district. This is a District award of which only one will be presented each year. The nominations for this award may be made by anyone and shall be submitted on the District Award Nomination form found on the Indian Springs District Website.
Cub Scouter of the Year Award:This award is presented to the Cub Scouter who has made the greatest contribution to the district Cub Scout program through their overall dedication and hard work. The recipient for this award may be any registered Cub Scout leader except the Cubmaster. This includes anyone serving as a member of a Pack Committee. This is a District award of which only one will be presented each year. The nominations for this award may be made by anyone and shall be submitted on the District Award Nomination form found on the Indian Springs District Website.
Boy Scouter of the Year Award:This award is presented to the Boy Scouter who has made the greatest contribution to the district Boy Scout program through their overall dedication and hard work. The recipient for this award may be any registered Boy Scout leader except the Scoutmaster. This includes anyone serving as a member of a Troop Committee. This is a District award of which only one will be presented each year. The nominations for this award may be made by anyone and shall be submitted on the District Award Nomination form found on the Indian Springs District Website.
Crew Scouter of the Year Award: This award is presented to the Crew Scouter who has made the greatest contribution to the district Boy Scout Venture Crew program through their overall dedication and hard work. The recipient for this award may be any registered Crew leader except the Crew Advisor. This includes anyone serving as a member of a Crew Committee. This is a District award of which only one will be presented each year. The nominations for this award may be made by anyone and shall be submitted on the District Award Nomination form found on the Indian Springs District Website.
Cubmaster of the Year Award:This award is presented to the Cubmaster who has made the greatest contribution to the district Cub Scout program at the unit and/or district level of service through their overall dedication and hard work. This is a District award of which only one will be presented each year. The nominations for this award may be made by anyone and shall be submitted on the District Award Nomination form found on the Indian Springs District Website.
Scoutmaster of the Year Award:This award is presented to the Scoutmaster who has made the greatest contribution to the district Boy Scout program at the unit and/or district level of service through their overall dedication and hard work. This is a District award of which only one will be presented each year. The nominations for this award may be made by anyone and shall be submitted on the District Award Nomination form found on the Indian Springs District Website.
Crew Advisor of the Year Award: This award is presented to the Crew Advisor who has made the greatest contribution to the district Boy Scout Venture program at the unit and/or district level of service through their overall dedication and hard work. This is a District award of which only one will be presented each year. The nominations for this award may be made by anyone and shall be submitted on the District Award Nomination form found on the Indian Springs District Website.
Roger Allen Cheerful Service Award:This award is one that is considered and presented by the district Order of the Arrow Chapter. This award is given in memory of Roger Allen, a longtime member of the Cvmpe Vekiwv Chapter of the Order of the Arrow Lodge. The recipient for this award will be a registered Scouter who has served the district with great distinction in the spirit of “Cheerful Service.” This award is not specifically intended for just Order of the Arrow adult members. This is an Order of the Arrow Chapter award. The nominations for this award shall be submitted on the District Award Nomination form and will be forwarded to the OA Chapter Advisor.
District Award of Merit:Please refer to the District Award of Merit Nomination form provided on this website for the details and purpose of this award. The recipient for this award will be selected by the District Key Four personnel. Each nomination for this award MUST be submitted upon the District Award of Merit Nomination form. All nominations for this award will be forwarded to the District Key Four without consideration of the District Advancement Committee. This award may be presented only once in a recipient’s lifetime.
Russell Turner Service Award:This award will be presented to a scouter who has provided significant service to the district scouting community, either through unit or district service, and who has contributed this service for a period of time that is not less than 10 years. The intended purpose of this award is to recognize scouters who have contributed to scouting in terms of BOTH effort and longevity of service. Mr. Russell Turner, who had dedicated his life to scouting in the West Georgia area, both as a youth and throughout the entirety of his adult life has served as the inspiration for recognizing adult scouters who have served the scouting program in our area with a similar spirit and dedication as had Mr. Turner.
