Provided mentoring and teaching support for student led project with local England based company – Oxfam International. Project involved assessing and developing a process to introduce new technology within their existing retail outlets to better serve their customers and facilitate improve communication within the organization.

Cardinal Health, Inc., Texas and New Mexico locations 1997-2001

Regional Human Resources Director

Managed the Human Resources Department for the Southwest region covering Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico as part of a $28 Billion Distributor of Healthcare products for Hospitals and Pharmacies.



  • Responsible for all Human Resources activities including Compensation, Benefits and Recruitment at each location.

  • Participated in Operations and Sales (Retail sales staff and Hospital sales staff) training and development.

  • Assisted Operations and Sales in developing performance standards that focus on obtaining key business goals and promoting continuous improvement.



Accomplishments



  • Conducted performance management training for the regional management team and divisional leadership.

  • Implemented a safety awareness process resulting in a significant reduction in recordable incidents and improved communication.

  • Reduced turnover by 40% (nonexempt employees) by implementing an accelerated merit review program and expanding the new employee orientation process.
Avery Dennison Corporation, Waco, Texas 1986-1997
Human Resources Manager
Shared operational leadership support and managed the Human Resources department for a manufacturer of pressure-sensitive materials, adhesives and office products. As a member of the Plant Leadership Team, additional responsibilities included the strategic planning and leadership of the Waco Site.

  • Provided leadership and accountability for plant operations and overall plant performance for a $16 million custom products business. Facilitated Human Resources activities including Compensation, Benefits and Recruitment.

  • Provided support and leadership for continuous improvement processes (social and technical systems) and organizational effectiveness/development.



Accomplishments - Avery Dennison
Provided facilitation support and leadership for a High Performance Work System Redesign Process, including management structure, core operating system and support systems. Participated as a member of the Redesign Team and helped facilitate the organizational transition to Self-Directed Work Teams.
    • Participated as part of a team based leadership structure in maintaining the highest service level (97%) and assisting R&D in launching the highest number of new products (5) in 1994-1995.
    • Assisted with the design and implementation of a seven-day continuous production operation. Plant transitioned from a five-day (three shift) to a seven-day (four shift) and a five-day (three shift) with a two-day (weekend shift), production schedule.
    • Coordinated activities for a manufacturing facility closure. Partnered with an international outplacement firm to facilitate employee transitions and all recruiting activities.

Production Supervisor

  • Supervised 40 employees working in a continuous production environment with respect to safety, quality, production rates and order completion.

  • Assumed responsibility for the plant safety and training programs in 1989.

  • Developed and supervised an additional production shift in order to achieve a 24-hour operation.
General Tire & Rubber Company, Waco, Texas 1977-1986

Production Supervisor/Quality Analyst
Managed 33 employees represented by the United Rubber Workers in a continuous production environment while maintaining contractual compliance and meeting departmental goals. Assisted in maintaining quality level goals for the manufacturing facility. Passed the Certified Quality Engineer Exam.
