Opportunity Title:Assistant Director 2 (Assistant Director, Alumni Relations & Engagement) Institution:Southern Methodist University Office/Department/Location:Dallas, TX Opportunity Description:For more information: https://smu.taleo.net/careersection/ex/jobsearch.ftl?lang=en&portal=101430233 Job Summary: 2 positions available - The Assistant Director for Alumni Engagement is responsible for the management and implementation of alumni, parent and friend volunteer and engagement opportunities, which may include: Management of 1 - 2 affinity group programs for alumni (graduates who have minority affinities and other specific interests) Management of 10 - 20 national or international alumni and parent chapters Management of one additional affinity group or one additional volunteer program. The Asst. Director is responsible for identifying, recruiting, managing, retaining and stewardship of volunteers, managing projects, communications & events associated with these programs. Working with the Director and colleagues, the Assistant Director will assist in developing and executing programs, as well as managing the programs¿ budget, to achieve the goal of building alumni engagement levels that will inspire financial support for the University. Essential Functions: Identify, recruit, manage and retain volunteers leading alumni affinity chapters, working to expand membership and broaden purpose. Asst Director maintains updated volunteer lists and chapter related assignments and holds regular meetings/conference calls with chapter leadership to communicate SMU priorities, plan aligned activities, share best practices and updates Identify, recruit, manage and retain volunteers leading 10-20 chapters, working to expand membership and broaden purpose. AD maintains updated volunteer rosters and conducts regular meetings/conference calls with chapter leadership to communicate SMU priorities, plan and coordinate 2-4 events for each chapter in conjunction with volunteers Collaborate with colleagues in various schools and units to build cross-campus relationships and advance the priorities and objectives of schools, units, affinity groups, chapters and volunteer programs. Liaises with 2-3 SMU school or unit fundraising officers or embedded alumni relations professionals. Plans and implements 2-4 alumni engagement events annual for respective schools/units Management of either the Student Recruitment Volunteer (SeRVe) program or one additional affinity group. SeRVe management involves recruitment, stewardship, training, coordination, and retention of alumni and parents who assist with SMU recruitment efforts. Liaises with Office of Undergraduate Admission. See above for details on affinity group responsibilities Work with Director to develop & execute plan of action for each program & manage annual budget, regularly monitoring progress toward goals for all programs. Oversee expenses and revenue for all programs and initiatives and ensure that all financial accounting, reimbursement requests and credit card statements are reconciled on a monthly and annual basis in coordination with team staff support.
