Abstract

This document contains the minutes of the IEEE 802.11ak TGak teleconference on 2016-01-07.

Teleconference from 10:04 am EST to 10:59 am EST

January 7, 2016

Joint 802.11ak/802.1Qbz call Chaired by Donald Eastlake (Huawei Technologies).

Notes were taken by Donald Eastlake.
Donald called the teleconference to order at 10:04 am.
IPR reminder and call for essential patents: No response.
No one had any specific submissions they wanted to present so the group reviewed slides 5 and 6 of 11-15/1473r3, the 11ak draft agenda for the January 802.11 WG meeting in Atlanta.

Slide 5 shows the additional sessions that TGak has been able to obtain.

Slide 6 is a list of issues that the Chair compiled during the November meeting in Dallas.

These issues were discussed:

  • 11ah Relay / 11ad Relay

It was suggested that special support at transparent relays was not needed.

  • DLS/TDLS (CID 50)

It was suggested that this could be resolved by a simple comment in the draft to the effect the decision is made by the bridge and this would be affected by loop breaking protocols.

It was suggested that some clarifying text might be needed.

  • Re-associate between GLK and non-GLK?

It was was suggested that (1) reassociation should not be able to change the GLK/non-GLK state of an association and (2) there was no need for fast roaming between GLK APs

  • “GLK convergence function” versus “IEEE 802.11 general link convergence function”

We should use the wording from IEEE 802.1AC, which is the second of these alternatives.
Mark Hamilton (Ruckus Wireless) confirmed that he does not expect to be at the January meeting in Atlanta. Of the 4 people that have open comments from 11ak LB212 assigned, Ganesh Venkatesan (Intel) and Mark Hamilton currently have the most. Both indicated they would work on drafting resolutions.
Call adjourned at about 10:59pm.

Attendees:

Donald Eastlake, 3rd (Huawei)

David Kloper (Cisco)

Mark Hamilton (Ruckus)

Ganesh Venkatesan (Intel)

Philippe Klein (Broadcom)
