The first video
The introduction and conclusion is very much like a bookend in a speech or presentation. The beginning and the conclusion of a speech are probably the most important part, because it’s the first and last things mention people will more than likely remember them more than the speech. So, what I plan to do next is prioritize my introduction and my conclusion. Some presenters even write backwards starting with the closer to the introduction. They do this just to know where they are going. Although the conclusion is important, it doesn’t have to end in a big bang. But it is important to end with a good lasting impression.
The Ted talk
The BIG idea of the first ted talk is that less is essentially more. You don’t need to have a lot to make a big impact. So, this probably ties into speech as in saying less and meaning more is better than the opposite of that. Its better to focus more on the quality of things rather than the number of things in general.
Why its important to speak clearly.
Speaking clearly is very important in many ways. If a person doesn’t speak clearly they’ll risk failing to get their point across then the message is meaningless. Whenever giving a speech it its very important for the message to be brought across without mumbling or unclear.
Ted talk 2
She grabbed out attention by recognizing with a lot of people want. After she grabs the audiences’ attention, she then proceeds to build up this anticipation. When speaking a person should be care not to ‘spill the beans.’ It might defer their attention. They already know what’s going to happen. It would be better to build up anticipation and time the delivery well. This will make my presentations much better.
Last video
This video is a great example of pathos. Pathos is the appeal to emotion, it’s a way of to convince the audience by using emotions. It’s a way to keep your audiences’ attention using passions you can relation. Ethos is an appeal to ethics; this is a tool that’s convinces the audience with the authority or credibility of the person they know. It can even be a popular celebrity. Logos is the use of cold hard facts and logic. In this speech the speaker uses a lot of relatable stories. Personally, a listener can emphasize, and it will make them want to listen more. He starts his speech talking about how he’s going to die and that’s draws them in. Then he ends by saying he wrote this for 3 people in his life. Leaving the audiences with a good impression.
Ethos (sometimes called an appeal to ethics), then, is used as a means of convincing an audience via the authority or credibility of the persuader, be it a notable or experienced figure in the field or even a popular celebrity.
Pathos (appeal to emotion) is a way of convincing an audience of an argument by creating an emotional response to an impassioned plea or a convincing story.
Logos (appeal to logic) is a way of persuading an audience with reason, using facts and figures.
