Job Description:

Revenue Accounting Analysts work in our Revenue Accounting Operations group in Atlanta, GA and are responsible for the management of our accounts receivable. Revenue Accounting Analysts serve as one of our customers’ main contacts and are an integral part of the Norfolk Southern business team. Obtaining a Revenue Accounting Analyst position is a great way of becoming a member of the Norfolk Southern organization and learning about the rail industry. Many of our department’s employees successfully advance to other departments within Norfolk Southern, including Expenditure Accounting, Marketing, Corporate Accounting and Internal Audit.


Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Manage accounts receivables for up to 200 customer accounts with combined receivables averaging $12M.

• Verify the accuracy of Norfolk Southern invoicing for revenue earned from rail operations.

• Build relationships through exceptional customer service

• Identify process improvements for billing and collections issues. Collaborate with other departments to test and implement enhancements

• Communicate with customers regularly via telephone and email for receivables management and revenue protection efforts.

• Utilize analytical tools to identify trends related to traffic, customers, invoices and payments.

• Interact with internal departments (such as Transportation and Marketing), as well as other railroads to research and resolve disputes.

• Provide comprehensive updates to Management team and related stakeholders regarding customers’ accounts.

• Actively participate in own professional development as guided by management team.

• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (Business Accounting, Finance, Economics preferred)

• Exceptional customer service skills

• Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

• Ability to analyze information timely

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to achieve established goals and deadlines

Co-op/Internship Requirements: Our co-op/internship program requires an individual be a full-time college student, have a formal arrangement with their academic institution, and be able to alternate full-time work and school semesters. The student may alternate between work and study for two or more terms. Department specific rotation requirements may vary.

Salary Information: All Co-ops will be paid according to the following:

Freshman - $2,500/month

Sophomore - $2,800/month

Junior - $3,000 /month

Senior - $3,300/month

Graduate Student - $3,666/month



*Living stipend of $850/month is available to those who qualify.
