'Exemplification out of the Court of the Exchequer of a discharge form the Court of Augmentation to King's College, from a demand made by the Crown (after the dissolution of religious houses) of £6 per annum, as the salary of a stipendiary priest, which it was pretended the College was obliged to keep perpetually in their manor of Kersey. Whereas (as this discharge sets forth) upon inquisition it was found that the Prior was kept there only at their will and pleasure, and that there never had been a free chapel or chantry founded there'.
