Laurel Martin (LD 1987) is cited for her athletic and coaching achievements. She is currently the field hockey coach at Stevenson University. Her teams have participated in Mid-Atlantic championship games with several players named to All Conference teams. For six straight seasons, the Stevenson field hockey team has received the National Field Hockey National Academic Team Award for having a team grade point average above 3.0. Previously, Martin as the head coach at Lebanon Valley College was a two-time Regional Field Hockey Coach of the Year. Martin is a three-time All-American from the University of North Carolina, and played on the 1989 national championship team. In 1990, she was named team captain of the United States National Team competing in the World University Games, Pan-American Games, and Olympic Qualifying Tournament. In 1994, Martin played for the U.S. National Team in the World Cup and was a 1996 United States Olympian. She is a member of the Field Hockey Association Hall of Fame. She shares her expertise by participating in numerous clinics and camps. She was nominated by Coach Linda Kreiser (1970) and Randy Umberger (1965), both past recipients of LDAA Distinguished Alumni Awards.
