**READ THE ENTIRE OCCONEECHEE COUNCIL “LIFE TO EAGLE GUIDE” AND THE ENTIRE EAGLE SCOUT SERVICE PROJECT WORKBOOK**

1-Identify a project that benefits your community, school or church and review with your Scoutmaster.
2-Receive signed permission from the beneficiary of your project.
3-Plan your project proposal and details in the latest Eagle Scout Project Workbook. Fully complete each request on Contact Information (page 6).
4-Receive signed approval from your Scoutmaster and Troop Committee Chairman after their review of your proposal. If possible select an Eagle Scout Project Coach to help you with the details.
5-Present your proposal to the Dogwood District Eagle Scout Review Board meeting is 3rd Monday of the month for Dogwood South by appointment-contact current Chairman for date and time and the first Thursday of the month for Dogwood North. See Document E-Dogwood District Eagle Review Board for contact information.
6-After approval to begin your project, be sure to keep a daily diary of the meetings, work details, workers and hours for your documentation. Records should be recorded in the Eagle Scout Service Project Final Plan and Project Report. A photographic record is important, before, during and after. Please select one image that best illustrates your project activities and print a 4x6 print for presentation or save to a CD and submit to the Eagle Scout Review Board during your final review. You will also either submit that photo to the Board during that meeting and/or submit via eaglerefs.org.
7- Personally contact and request Letters of Recommendation from your references as listed on your Eagle Scout Rank Application as soon as you begin your project. The letters go to the Occoneechee Council Eagle Desk, 3231 Atlantic Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27604 or you can use www.eaglerefs.org. You are not to see these letters. See page 12 of the Life to Eagle Guide for Reference Letter Guidelines. It is suggested that you provide a copy of this Letter of Recommendation Request to your references along with a “stamped” envelop for their mailing convenience. Make sure they are addressed to Occoneechee Council, Eagle Desk, 3231 Atlantic Ave. Raleigh, NC 27604. DO NOT USE THE POST OFFICE BOX ADDRESS!!!!

8-Prepare your Statement of Life Purpose. This should be a forward looking statement building on your Scouting experiences and training including your ambitions and a listing of positions held in your religious institution, school, camp, community or other organizations during which you demonstrated leadership skills. Include honors and awards received during this service.
9- You are now ready for your Scoutmaster and Unit Committee Chair to review your project and with their approval receive their signatures on the Eagle Scout Rank Application. Complete your Eagle Scout Application (keep a copy for your files).
10-Copy your completed Project Workbook
11-Submit your Original Eagle Scout Application Form, a copy of your Statement of Life Purpose and copy of your Project Workbook to the Eagle Desk at Occoneechee Council in Raleigh. They will be paired up with your Letters of Recommendation. All of this must be at the Occoneechee Council Eagle Desk , 3231 Atlantic Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27604 on or before your 18th birthday.
12-Upon their approval your package is returned to the appropriate District Eagle Scout Review Board and the chairman will contact you for your final review. For your final review it is suggested to wear your full uniform with stash, however if this is not a possibility then refer to Page 55 item 8.0.0.4 in the Guide to Advancement for more information concerning “Wearing the Uniform-or Neat in Appearance”. Also have several copies of your workbook copied for the Board Members and any other supporting materials.
