Joota was founded by a diverse team of inventors, designers, software developers and marketers from Oregon and Kuala Lumpur.
Ahmad Fauzi Ali, Chief Executive Officer/Co-Founder
Fauzi has over 25 years experience as a technology (serial) entrepreneur, management consultant and systems integrator in the information technology industry. Previously, Ahmad Fauzi founded Dataphone Sdn Bhd in 1984, Malaysia’s first telemarketing search service, a pre Internet version of the Google business model. In addition, he also founded Sapura Advanced Systems Sdn Bhd in 1990 and has overseen the procurement and implementation of over 40 IT projects including the Kuala Lumpur International Airport Total Airport Management Systems and MiG29 simulator, Electronic Government-Generic Office Environment and development of Executive Desktop, EIS.
Ahmad Fauzi earned his B.Sc. (Hons) in Computation from the University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology, United Kingdom. He joined Arthur Andersen (Later known as Accenture) after graduation.
Ashran Dato’ Ghazi, Chief Operating Officer/Co-Founder
Ashran Dato’ Ghazi has a wealth of experience in various industries namely, Construction, Oil & Gas, Technology, Media, Communication, Events Management, Human Capital Development. Prior to Joota Ashran Dato’ Ghazi was CEO/Co-Founder of Asiastream Group, an Internet TV, Multimedia & ICT, Events & Communication, and Human Capital Development company. Started employment in Petronas and later joined a private group involved in Construction, Technology & Training. He has been an entrepreneur since 2001/02.
He is actively involved in local entrepreneurial work and in the non-profit sector in Malaysia as he is currently the Chairman of New Entrepreneurs Foundation (Malaysia), Chairman of
myHarapan, Youth Trust Foundation, President of the Malaysian Association of Bumiputera ICT Entrepreneur and Industry.
Lilyana Abdul Latiff, Product Manager/Co-Founder
Gathering a variety of experiences and business skills ranging from R&D to consulting to sales and marketing, Lilyana, has always been confident of meeting new challenges. She has many diverse talents, and believes that people relationship, transparency, thinking skills, continuous learning and hardwork allow her to be successful in any industry or job challenges. She is currently an active Council Member in NEF, an ICT industry association in Malaysia, and was recently listed “Top 40-under-40 Women Entrepreneur” (2009) by Prestige magazine.
In her latest venture, Joota.com, Lilyana is using her diverse experience towards building the next generation of social networking application.
Nur-Ruhizan bin Dato’ Noh, Brand Communications/Co-Founder
Prior to co-founding Joota, Nur was the principle and group creative director with Intercipta, a business communications service agency where he was responsible to oversee brand identity projects including ones with event management company Aleph-One and was the chief brand architect of Khazanah Nasional Berhad's "Khazanah Global Lecture" series. He is also a partner with Inter-Asia, an international technology PR company with affiliates in Thailand, Philippines and Singapore.
Nur firmly believes that design should be strategy-driven which accounts for the integrated and holistic approach to his work. When he is not working, he is sometimes found composing tracks on his electric guitar (autographed by Carlos Santana) or the Kurzweil keyboards that sit in his home studio.
ADVISORS
Jack D. Robinson, Advisor/Co-Founder
During the past 24 years, Mr. Robinson has participated in the funding, development, licensing and commercialization of high-tech products and technologies, and in the management of startup technology companies. Mr. Robinson typically creates, funds and co-manages startups from concept stage through to prototype, first production, acquisition and/or public listing.
From November 2005 to present, Mr. Robinson co-founded and is the President and CEO of ADDnCLICK, Inc., a startup formed to create and implement a new means of generating a massive social network on the internet.
Peter Muller, Advisor/Co-Founder
Since 1985, Mr. Muller has been President and owner of Interformwww.inter4m.com, an internationally acclaimed product development and design firm. His professional expertise is based on highly diversified international product development and design for major industries in Europe, USA, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Australia and Hong Kong. Clients range from large multinational corporations to start-up companies including General Motors, General Electric Corp., Ingersoll Rand, Kodak, LM Ericsson, Steelcase, Philips/CSA, Samsonite, with activities ranging from concept development and problem solving to engineering and software interface.
Wallace Glausi, Advisor/Co-Founder
Wallace Glausi counsels emerging growth companies and investment funds on issues related to formation, financing, growth, portfolio investments and liquidity. He provides strategic counsel on positioning, business model and revenue generation issues, and tax planning. Wally has represented developers, borrowers, investors and lenders on more than three dozen tax credit syndications and finance transactions including low-income housing and energy projects. He also represents companies on a variety of transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, complex strategic and venture financings, stock/equity incentive plans, and real estate matters.
Prior to joining Ater Wynne, Wally was a partner with White & Lee LLP in Portland.
