2016/17 ATHLETICS PROGRAM INFORMATION SHEET
Purpose
The Sunraysia Academy of Sport 2016/17 Athletics program will provide junior athletes with a high performance sporting program within our region by enhancing pathways for young athletes to achieve their elite sporting and personal ambitions.

Objectives



  1. To Identify regional athletes with long term characteristics to become high performance athletes

  2. To give athletes the tools necessary to develop as high level athletes

  3. To provide high level track and field training, specific to each individuals chosen discipline

  4. To increase the number of regionally based junior track and field athletes

  5. To involve regionally based athletics coaches and support their personal development within the program for the development of current and future athletes



Program Structure
Simon Moran (Northern Districts Athletic Club SA) has been appointed the Technical Director of Coaching and will oversee the program and provide guidance to local coaches. Moly-Rose Sutton (Head Coach) and Jag Singh (Throws Coach) will implement the coaching program. This program will include higher level coaching and sports science opportunities along with other beneficial experiences for participating athletes.
The program will include:

  1. On Surface Training

      1. Weekly supervised training session from September through to end of March

      2. Training Camp (Adelaide and Mildura)

  1. Off Surface Training

  1. Athlete Education seminars for athletes, parents and coaches

  2. Fitness testing

  3. Musculoskeletal screening

  4. Weekly strength and conditioning program (Chaffey Secondary College)

Athletes will have the opportunity to compete at various state athletic events (depending on qualification)

Targeted Squad

Boys and Girls aged 12-17 years of age.


Selection

Athletes selected in the SAS athletics program must satisfy the following criteria:



  1. A member of the Mildura & District Little Athletics Centre.

  2. Athletes with a willingness to learn and improve

  3. Athletes in the SAS Athletics program must make any SAS activity their priority over other sporting pursuit

  4. Athletes must meet the qualifying standard for the 2017 SA State Individual Championships (Little Athletics South Australia) in their chosen discipline(s)



The Application Form and $50 deposit are due on Friday 12 September 2016.-asap
Applications forms will need to be completed and sent back to me. Notification of your selection/non selection in the program will occur via email by TBA. The first training session will be Monday 12 September 2016.

Program Cost

The athlete levy for the 2016/17 Athletics program is $400.00. If payment is made by 26 September 2016 the discounted levy is $370.00. All fees need to be paid in full by 30 November 2016.


There is no uniform levy, upon registration an uniform order form will be sent to the athlete and they are required to go to Totally Workwear in Lime Ave, Mildura and order uniforms and pay on collection. Second year athletes can purchase additional uniform items if required.

Preferred payment method is direct debit, but payment can also be made by cash or cheque.
