In this example, we would exclude Whites as the reference group, and the regression output would allow us to compare other ethnicities to Whites For example, if we were predicting how much money people saved for retirement and the variable BLACK had a coefficient –3,200, it would mean
that African Americans save, on average, $3,200 less than Whites. If the variable ASIAN had a coefficient of 6,700, it would mean that Asians save
$6,700 more for retirement than Whites. In each case, the dummy variable is interpreted relative to the reference group in the regression.
