Registration Deadline: Monday, April 13th at 5PM
THE GAME

  1. Game times will be Monday-Friday 3:15-6:15pm. Saturday April 25th, games will be from 4-7p.m.

  2. The game will be played in two 25 minute halves with a running clock. A five minute half time break will be designated.

  3. Every game will be governed by FIFA rules with a few exceptions.

  4. All free kicks are direct in nature (no indirect kicks regardless of violation).

  5. The clock will be stopped only in the instance of an injury.

  6. There is no offsides violation (much like indoor soccer).

  7. The goalkeeper can pick up any ball within the goal box on the field with the exception of a ball passed back to him or her by his or her own team.

  8. Any hard contact with the goalkeeper after he/she has the ball in full possession will result in an automatic red card.

  9. The goalkeeper may not punt the ball once they gain possession. They must throw it or release it and play the ball with their feet. Penalty… first offense warning from the referee… second offense is a direct kick from the infraction.

  10. Substitutions may be made “on the fly” at any stoppage in play by either team. All substitutions will be made from behind the ball.

  11. A goal is scored when the entire ball has crossed the goal line. Following the goal, the ball will be played from mid-field.

  12. THERE WILL BE NO SLIDE TACKLING!!!!!

  13. Each participant must have shin guards.

  14. The game will be played between two teams of 6 players. Five in the field plus a keeper. You must have four on the field to avoid a forfeit.

  15. Game time is forfeit time. No exceptions

Eligibility



  1. All Union students, faculty, and staff are eligible to participate.

  2. Spouses of faculty/staff or students are eligible to participate in intramural events.

  3. Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 6 hours; Graduate and seminary extension students must be enrolled in at least three graduate hours at Union University to be eligible.

  4. Any individual who participated in a varsity sport during one academic year would be ineligible to participate in that sport or associate sport during that same academic year.

  5. “Red shirt” players and members of intercollegiate teams are ineligible to participate on an intramural team in that specific sport (or associated sport) during that sport’s season.

  6. Professionals or amateurs competing in any related sport in the Intramural Program are ineligible.

  7. Once a roster is submitted it is final.

INJURIES


  1. Participation in the Intramural Program is voluntary. Participants will be required to sign a release form when they sign the roster to participate in any sport. Union University, Wellness and Student Programs, or the Intramural Program is not liable for injuries suffered by participants. Therefore, all participants are advised to have proper medical coverage before participating. In the event of an injury during an intramural contest, the supervisor will give any assistance possible. The injured party assumes liability for any transportation and/or medical charges.


PENALTIES

  1. All penalties (i.e. hands, slide tackling, tripping, pushing, etc) will result in direct kicks.

  2. A penalty kick is awarded if the opposition commits a foul in the goal box. Penalty kicks are taken from the top of the goal box.

  3. Excessive penalties from the same player will result in a yellow card.

2 yellows = 1 red
Dress Code

  1. Bike shorts, bare midriffs, and cut-off shirts and shorts are inappropriate for this event.


Unsportsmanlike Conduct

1. No player shall use abusive or insulting language nor commit any act of unfair play including attempts to interfere with offensive signals or movements, kicking at opposing players, swinging arms, hand, or first at an opposing player.



2. Coaches, substitutes, or others subject to the rule shall not attempt to influence the decision of an official, address an official disrespectfully, or be on the court illegally.
***********ONLY THE TEAM CAPTAIN CAN ADDRESS AN OFFICAIL CONCERNING THE QUESTIONING OF A CALL. FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THIS RULE WILL FIRST RESULT IN A WARNING WITH A SECOND INFRACTION RESULTING IN EXPULSION.

************THERE WILL BE NO DIRECT OR INDIRECT DEROGATORY COMMENTS MADE TO THE REFEREE OR ANY OTHER PLAYER. WARNING FOR THE FIRST INFRACTION. EXPULSION FOR THE SECOND INFRACTION.
