How to Upgrade Uboot

Description:

To fix the U-boot, below are tools required:



  1. Program ‘FlashInstaller’ :

http://www.yeastar.com/download/temp/FlashInstaller.msi

  1. One PC based on windows.

Windows XP is highly recommended which has a better compatibility with ‘FlashInstaller’ tool the tool works better but Windows 7 is also OK.

  1. Console Access Setup for Yeastar Devices

Here are the steps to upgrade U-boot


Step1. Connect console and power cable
Connect console cable as per the console setup guide.


Step2. Install ‘FlashInstaller’ in your PC.
Make sure this software is installed well, and you can open it successfully.
Please reboot your PC before moving on.

Step3. Open ‘FlashInstaller’ then set the parameter

‘Choose Target’: AM37xx (Micron)


‘UART port’: The COM port that console cable connected. You can check if in ‘My computer->Manager->Device manager’, in my example, it’s COM1.
As for others, please make the value by default.

Note: If you are using a ‘DB9->USB’ cable to connect to your notebook, please choose UART too with right port number.

Step4. Erase NAND
Choose ‘Erase Region’ then input flash range
Offset: 0x00000000
Size: 0x280000

Click ‘Go’, you can see the log that need to restart the Yeastar device.


Cut off power cable then reconnect it again.
You can see the ‘console progress success’.

Note: If it’s failed here, please check if ‘Choose target’ and ‘UART Port’ are right.
Step5. Download U-boot file XXX.u
(the file we send you may in this format with version number: u-boot-ldr-yaffs2.u300, please replace XXX.u to u-boot-ldr-yaffs2.u300).

Click ‘Download’, the value of ‘Offset’ will be 0x00000000 by default.


Click ‘Browse’ to choose file ‘U-boot-ldr-yaffs2.u300’ in local PC’s folder.
Click ‘Go’ and the program will ask to restart the Yeastar device.
After the power cable re-connected, we can see U-boot-ldr-yaffs2.u300 is downloaded successfully.

Step6. Open Putty to confirm if U-boot are working.
Download putty via this link: www.yeastar.com/download/tools/putty.exe
Open it choose ‘serial’
Serial line: COM1, if it’s COM3 or COM4, please modify it.
Speed: 57600 or 115200.

Click ‘Open’ you can see COM1 is connected, restart the Yeastar device.

Click any key to stop ‘autoboot’, the x-loader and U-boot are working if reaching ‘Yeastar device.> ‘
And input ‘re’ to restart the system.
