New song co-produced by ryan tedder

APG/Atlantic singer-songwriter Molly Kate Kestner released her third song today, “It’s You.”

Grammy-Award winner and OneRepublic lead vocalist Ryan Tedder (Adele, Beyoncé) co-produced the track, which Idolator (LINK) premiered and called "a feisty mid-tempo kiss-off that showcases her soaring vocals."

Like her previous two songs, “Prom Queen” and “Good Die Young,” “It’s You” was highlighted on Spotify’s “New Music Friday” playlist today. The track was also added to Apple Music’s The A-List: Pop.

Of the inspiration behind the soulful track Kestner explains, "It's never easy breaking up with someone, so most of us tend to use cliché phrases to soften the blow. Lines like ‘I just need some time to work on myself’ or ‘It's not you... it's me.’ But the truth is, if you're breaking up with someone, there's a greater reason. And we're usually thinking, ‘it's NOT me, it's YOU.’ So this song is about coming clean, cutting ties, and letting go of the fear of hurting someone. There is something incredibly empowering about simply being honest about how you feel.”

Kestner caught the attention of many in 2014, while she was still in high school, when a home video of her original song “His Daughter” went viral on YouTube, reaching over 7 million views in just a few weeks. To date, the song has reached 15 million views on YouTube, 6 million streams and sold more than 120k singles in the USA alone.

After making the move from Minnesota to Los Angeles just last year, 21-year-old Kestner has been working on new material for herself and other established artists, including Kelly Clarkson. So far, this year has seen Kestner playing a residency at LA’s iconic Hotel Café, touring with fellow singer-songwriter Wrabel, and working on new music. Fans can look forward to a steady flow of upcoming releases from this young artist, whose powerful voice and live performances have been recognized by audiences and critics alike.
