NJGIN Partner Launches Atlantic County Site Investigator

Atlantic County, the State’s first NJMapp partner, recently launched the Atlantic County Site Investigator on its NJGIN node. Site Investigator is a GIS Internet application that combines local and State geographic data to identify and retrieve specific information about selected properties within Atlantic County. With the success of the pilot, Site Investigator will be implemented and replicated on other NJGIN partner nodes.

Funded by NASA through a grant from the Institute for the Application of Geospatial Technology (IAGT), the NJ Office of GIS developed Site Investigator to help its local partners facilitate land use and economic development decisions. Site Investigator can be used by planning departments to direct economic growth as well as by expanding businesses looking to relocate.

The Atlantic County Site Investigator integrates New Jersey data such as State Planning Areas and Open Space with local zoning and parcel data. New Jersey’s 2002 Orthophotography can be added to the map for a detailed aerial view of selected and surrounding properties. Site Investigator also allows the user to generate and print on demand, environmental analyses and demographic reports for comprehensive overviews of targeted areas.
The Atlantic County Site Investigator will be featured at the 2006 MAC URISA Conference’s Interactive Expo on March 16th. But if you can’t wait that long, go to http://njgin.aclink.org/si/ to experience the Atlantic County Site Investigator for yourself.
