A star guest from Turin: Alfa Romeo 6C 2300 Castagna
As a special automobile titbit, the model Alfa Romeo 6C 2300 Castagna is presented to the visitors in Baden-Baden. Owner is the well-known collector Corrado Lopresto from Milan, who has already won many prices with his automobile rarities. This car was built as prototype in the year 1939, shortly before the start of the war. The coupé has a 12-cylinder engine under its cowling, which can accomplish impressing 200 PS. Technically and aesthetically, this Alfa Romeo was ahead of its time.
Brand of honor Alfa Romeo: 100 years of automobile history
A special focus is set on this year’s brand of honor: Alfa Romeo is celebrating its 100-years jubilee – and Baden-Baden is celebrating too! In the area before the Trinkhalle, 30 historic Alfa Romeos show the history of the traditional sports car manufacturer. Alfa Romeo Germany and the Alfa specialist of the region, the Autohaus Brohl from Rastatt, are presenting the latest vehicle offers; such as the brand new Giuletta as well as the spectacular sports car 8C Comeptizione. Both cars are available for trial runs.
Stars & Cars: Ford from Marilyn Monroe and Mercedes from Charlie Chaplin
The cars of famous people do have a special fascination for many fans of old vehicles. Especially when the stars & starlets, have deliberately embellished their own cars. So a Ford Thunderbird Convertible, formally in the possession of Marilyn Monroe, is presenting itself in a pink-colored body-work. And also the former governor of Rhodesia (today’s Zimbabwe) had his Cadillac “optically refined”. While the rebuilding in the Year 1930 to a parade and representation car, the body was varnished in light blue and white. Charlie Chaplin, in this case, was much more discrete – he left his Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Roadster completely unchanged.
Founder of the Fabergé museum presents valuable vehicles in the Kurpark
The founder of the Fabergé museum, Alexander Ivanov, is not only an art enthusiast, he also is a passionate collector of old vehicles. The cars from his collection have determined the street scene of the years 1910 to 1930 and are part of the fascinating history of the automobile. Nowadays, those rarities of automobile history can almost exclusively be seen in museums. More delightful, that he presents ten of his valuable cars at this year’s Oldtimer-Meeting.
