Alight Technologies is a designer and developer of 1300nm Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSELs). Alight also patented a Photonic BandGap (PBG) technology which it has incorporated to its VCSEL platform that is under development. Its 1300nm VCSEL is expected to have 10.3125 Gbps modulation speed and is primarily intended to be used in applications for datacom and telecom markets, including LAN, optical interconnects, storage area networks as well as fiber telecom access networks. Alight’s PBG technology is generic and may be licensed for use in various applications, such as, printing, sensing, passive optical fiber and consumer electronic applications.
