Here’s a new tech tool that you’ll want to make sure all of your road warriors have downloaded on their smartphones.

The Per Diem Mobile App is a free mobile app that allows users to determine the per diem rates of where they’re staying simply by using their phones. (Per diem is the daily allowance for lodging — excluding taxes — meals and any incidental expenses.)

The app was released by the General Services Administration (GSA) , it works with most smartphones and, best of all, it’s free to download.

So how does it work? The Per Diem Mobile App allows users to look up government per diem rates by city/state and Zip code.

The GSA sets all of per diem rates for any of the destinations within the lower 48 contiguous United States; however, the U.S. Department of Defense sets the rates for Alaska, Hawaii and the U.S. territories.

Be sure to let staffers know: Blackberry users must have Blackberry App World installed to download the GSA app.
