Ms. Sims October 19-23, 20 15 *A Peek at the Week* Reading: Students will continue to identify characters, setting, main idea and details in a story. Phonics Focus: /ck/ Language Arts: verbs Math: This week students will continue working on ten frames and place value. Social Studies: This week we will introduce new American Heros. Science: Students will continue working on magnets. IB Learner Profile for October Balanced Parents please talk with your child about how important is to be a balanced person. *Important Memos & Dates* Congrats to Tierra for being named the September Student of the Month! She displayed many warrior ways during the previous month and the IB learner profile of being balanced. Great job, Tierra! Parents please remember to check your child’s folder each and every day. In School Field Trip – The Atlanta Botanical Gardens will come on Friday to do an in school field trip about edible plants. Please remember it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, wear you pink on Fridays throughout the month to show support. *Wish List* Donations of cleaning supplies, tissues, and hand sanitizer will help us to all stay healthy (Thanks to parents that are continuously sending these items in) Please feel free to donate healthy snacks to the classroom at any time. STUDENTS: Remember to “Read your Heart Out” for 10 minutes a night and fill it in your October log! Parents: We want to make sure that they receive their reward at the end of this month. Our goal is 100 minutes for the month of October. There is a NEW reading log in the folders. Parents, please encourage your child to recall what they read in the story…ask them questions!
