Recharge your phone in your Opel the neat and tidy way – wire-less!

  • Fully-integrated wireless charger: Available in trendy Opel ADAM family

  • No need for cables or ports: Enjoy connectivity while phone is secured and recharging

  • Affordably priced: Wireless charging for only €135

Rüsselsheim. Opel now offers vehicle-integrated wireless charging in selected model variants of the stylish ADAM, enabling you to recharge your phone’s battery via an electromagnetic field, reducing clutter and the need for cables. Just place your smartphone on the integrated charger and wireless charging will begin immediately. With wireless charging, Opel OnStar, award-winning IntelliLink infotainment technology, CarPlay and Android Auto phone projection, the ADAM is clearly a real trendsetter.

“Our award-winning, smartphone-compatible IntelliLink infotainment technology made its premiere in the Opel ADAM, which is the perfect example of how much individuality and technology can be packed into a small car. And now with wireless charging as well as Opel OnStar, we are taking successful lifestyle mini to an even higher level,” says Peter Christian Küspert, Vice President Sales and Aftersales Opel Group.
Wireless charging (also known as inductive charging) uses an electromagnetic field to transfer energy between two objects via a charging station. Energy is sent through an inductive coupling to an electrical device, which can then use that energy to charge the battery or run the device.
An induction coil in the charger creates an alternating electromagnetic field and a second induction coil in the portable device takes power from the electromagnetic field and converts it back into electric current to charge the battery.
Thanks to accessory docking stations, the technology is available on many automobiles, too. However, the accessory docking station still needs to be wired to the car’s electrical system; and depending on where it’s installed it might more or less encroach on your field of vision.
A better idea is to build wireless charging of smartphones into the vehicle. The wireless charger in the ADAM is compatible with the “Qi” and “Powermat” interface standards and it is located in the center console in front of the gear lever. Drivers can keep their hands on the steering wheel and, using Bluetooth, they can pair their wireless charging enabled phone to the vehicle and, for example, make calls or stream music while the device is both out of the way and charging.
Thanks to Opel’s personal connectivity and service assistant, OnStar, ADAM drivers can also access a powerful 4G/LTE Wi-Fi hotspot providing high-speed data connection in the vehicle for up to seven devices.
Wireless charging is available as an option for €135 on all members of the ADAM family except the base version. Prices for the colorful, versatile and individualistic Opel ADAM JAM begin at an affordable €13,850 including VAT.
