Robbie Williams Youth Award

Jessica Carmody (Athletics)

Jessica has represented Queensland in athletics and cross country from 2003-2007. In 2004 she was state champion for cross country and was the Bronze medallist at the Australian Cross Country Championships. Jessica greatest accomplishment came this year when she was selected to compete in the Beijing Olympic trial event with the Jumpstart team.



Lorenzo Sipi (Football)

Travelling many kilometres and hours for competition and training, Lorenzo has shown his determination to compete in the sport he loves, Football. This determination paid off when he achieved his dream of selection in the Australian Secondary Schools team. He will travel to Japan and Korea in December this year.



Florria Mosby (Basketball/Athletics)

Florria’s passion for sport motivates her to stay an active and healthy 13 year old. Florria competes in a variety of sports including athletics, basketball and touch football. She attended three Basketball Australia training camps this year and was selected to represent the Dolphins U’14 Girls Basketball Team. She has also won many age championships for athletics over the years.



Lester Roberts (Various)

Lester is a young, motivated member of the community who has shown an interest in a variety of sports including rugby, AFL, swimming, and athletics. He also excels in swimming and athletics- 800m and 1500m running, and high jump. His achievements were also highlighted when he won the Open Age Champion for swimming, athletics and cross country 2008.



Zaan Togo (Hockey/Athletics)

Zaan is a 17 year old whose interest in sport has seen him competing in Athletics and Hockey at state and national leveI. He competed for the QLD Hockey team in 2005 and 2007 and was part of the National Talent Identified Development program. In 2006 he also competed at the Athletics State Championships in javelin, long jump and triple jump. Next year, Zaan will compete in the U’21 Queensland Hockey Squad.



Marmin Barba (Rugby League)

Marmin is a keen Rugby League player. He has shown his leadership as the captain of the Mackay State High School 1st Rugby League side. He was selected for the Queensland U’18 side to play NSW country and was also selected as the Half-back for the Capricornia Opens Rugby League side, in which they were State Championship finalists.



Bruce Baragud (Rugby League)

Bruce began competing in Rugby League at 13 and has since gone on to compete in the U’18 Rugby League and Union representative sides in 2008 and the U’16 representative side in 2007. Bruce has also won individual accomplishments as the leading try scorer in 2007 and 2008. He has a bright future as the Redcliffe Dolphin Rugby League Club and the Northern Pride Rugby League Club have approached him to play in trial matches for the 2009 season.


Joel Mitchell (Muay Thai)

At 8 years old Joel took up the sport of Muay Thai. Attending classes on his own, Joel showed his focus and motivation to compete. Now at 14, Joel has competed in 13 fights in QLD and overseas. He has competed for Australia at the IFMA WMC Amateur World Championships in 2007 and his next competition is representing Australia at the TAFISA World Sport for All Games.



Joel Hagan (Various)

Joel’s interest in sport spans Rugby League, AFL and athletics. His abilities in both Rugby League and AFL were shown this year when he represented both Queensland teams in the U12s. His involvement in athletics has also seen him represent the Queensland’s athletics team in 2007 and 2008. His quick pace saw him brake records in 100m at Darling downs regional level and recently almost broke the U12 100m record at the QEII. His next competition is for Queensland at the Pan Pacific Games in Canberra.



Ryan Mitchell (Rugby League)

Ryan is a 14 year old who has played Rugby League for the Cunnamulla Junior Rugby League team for several years and still plays for the U14s side. Travelling to various regions of Queensland, Ryan has competed in the QLD U14s side, was selected for the Stockman’s squad and the Mustang squad. After a week of trials he was named in the U14s representative side and has been approached by the Brisbane Broncos.



Patricia Dougan (Softball)

Patricia’s achievements in Softball began when she was in primary school. Now at 15, Patricia has represented the Rockhampton U14, U16 and U19 squad, the Capricornia School Girls and the U16 QLD School Girls Softball side. Recently, she was selected in the Inaugural Australian Indigenous Team 2008. Her future in pursuing Softball professionally is bright as she was awarded a Scholarship at the Queensland Academy of Sport.



Jayden Hodges (Rugby League/Rugby Union)

Jayden is a 15 year old keen Rugby Union and League player. Over the years he has been selected in Rugby League for Cairn representative sides, school boys competitions, development squads, and state championships. He has also represented Rugby Union at State Championships. Showing good skills and fair play on the field he has also won Best Player of the Year and Best and Fairest for Rugby League. He hopes to travel the world representing Australia in both codes.



Morris Hodges (Rugby League/Rugby Union)

Morris is a 16 year old Rugby League and Union player. His achievements in both codes have seen him play representative football for Cairns in Rugby League. He has been selected in various Union teams including the Elite Queensland Rugby Union, Peninsula U15s and U18s State Championship sides and the Australian Indigenous U16s side in 2008.



Rex Liddy (Australian Football)

Rex has a passion for AFL and is involved in competing and coaching the game. At 16, he has played the game at all levels- School, State and National. He has shown his leadership as the Captain of the Australian Indigenous Youth team and was also selected in the AFL Australian Institute of Sport for the 2009 season. Rex is also dedicated to helping young footballers by coaching in the AusKick program and being a part of the coaching panel for the Junior TAS AFL program.



Solomon Blanket (Various)

Solomon is a 12 year old all rounder in sport. Selected to compete at state level for track and field, rugby league and basketball and at national level for AFL, Solomon shows that he has outstanding sporting abilities. He has also won individual player awards including QLD Blaze Player Award at the National AFL championships.



Jessica Broome (Netball)

At 15, Jessica is a highly motivated Netball player. During her Netball pursuits she has competed at the state level where she has represented Rockhampton on several occasions. She was also selected in the 15 yrs team for the State Age Carnival in Brisbane and the Country Carnival in Townsville earlier this year.



Nathan Kepa (Rugby League)

Nathan has excelled in the sport of Rugby League. He plays for Brothers U16s in the Cairns District competition where he was awarded up the Best Back award in the Grand Final. His representative honours include Open School Boys for Peninsula Region, U16 Far Nth QLD side and U16 North QLD sides. Showing determination, courage and fair play, Nathan was also awarded Representative Player of the Year for the Cairns District.



Chloe Coughlin (Basketball)

Chloe has represented Basketball Queensland at U18 level in 2007 and 2008. Earlier this year, Chloe was recruited by Logan Thunder Basketball Association for the WNBL Women’s squad- her highest achievement thus far.
