Difficult children and how to raise them

The difficult child is the child who is unhappy, despondent and miserable. Despite their parents’ great efforts, these children are difficult to deal with and to bring up. A difficult child is nearly always made difficult by wrong treatment. Parents can pressure their children into obedience or persuade them through fear. There is also a downside when parents indulge the whims of their children. Improper interaction between parents and children can make a child “difficult”. The resolution of this problem should be considered from the child's age: preschool children, primary school children and adolescents.

Games play a leading role in the lives of children under the age of seven. Parents should take an active part in them. You should also avoid comparing the child with others, putting other children as an example. Parents need to convey to the child that he/she is loved regardless.

Primary school children are given a new social role. School is a new level of mental development. the student understands that the rules are such that the higher the score, the more he corresponds to his new social role. Psychologists say that it is important for parents not to get lost in the new conditions and not to evaluate the child based on their grades at school. The opinion of parents, their participation and warmth are still very important for a child.

Adolescence is primarily characterized by interpersonal and social inequalities. Teenagers may have motor disinhibition, restlessness, irritability, aggression, etc. At this age, the teenager is on the borderline between the apparent social maturity and reality, where he is still a child. First, parents should be patient, remember themselves at their age, and treat them with understanding. Psychologists advise not to detract from the independence of the child but to be always there if he/she needs your advice.

“A difficult child” is not an illness or medical diagnosis, difficult children are normal. A difficult child is a child, who needs love, help, attention and care at any age: in preschool, in school, and adolescence.
