COMPETENCY GOAL 1: The learner will design and conduct investigations to demonstrate an understanding of scientific inquiry.
1.03 Apply safety procedures in the laboratory and in field studies:
• Recognize potential hazards.
• Manipulate materials and equipment.
• Conduct appropriate procedures.
TLW demonstrate knowledge of lab safety rules and procedures.
TLW identify potential hazards and implement appropriate safety procedures when conducting scientific investigations.

Assign getting Safety Contract signed for homework. Stress that no one will be allow to participate in any lab without a Safety Contract signed by both student and parent.

Have students randomly select safety rules to create Safety Posters. This will be done in learning teams of 3-4 students.
