2015 ATTENDANCE BESTS
OPENING DAY: The Patriots are 9-8 all-time on Opening Day
RETURNING PLAYERS: This year’s 27 man roster features 10 players that at some point during their careers suited up for Somerset (Jonny Tucker, James Skelton, Aharon Eggleston, Adam Donachie, Scott Kelly, Matt Zielinski, David Harden, Kyler Newby, Nate Spears, Jon Hunton)
MLB EXPERIENCE: Nine players on the roster have at one point during their baseball tenure suited up for an MLB team (Buddy Boshers, Andrew Carignan, Mickey Storey, Robert Andino, Matt Gamel, Chris Marrero, Nate Spears, Scott Cousins, Thomas Neal)
STRIVE FOR SIX: The Somerset Patriots are the most successful baseball club in Atlantic League history winning League Championships in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2009. The Patriots look to win that elusive sixth title in program history this year. This is the 18th year of Somerset Patriots Baseball one of just two flagship franchises left.
ROAD RARITY: The Patriots open up a season on the road for the first time since 2010 when they opened that campaign in Bridgeport.
CLOSING TIME: Jon Hunton has been the best reliever in the Atlantic League the last two seasons. He has 91 saves combined in 2013/2014 including five one run saves in the postseason the past two years.
BUILDING ON SUCCESS: Somerset has made the playoffs each of the last two seasons but lost to the eventual Atlantic League Champion in the postseason each of the last year years (2013 Ducks/2014 Barnstormers).
SAVVY VETS: This will be the fourth year dawning the red, white and blue for three players as they are veterans in the Somerset community (Jonny Tucker, Adam Donachie, Jon Hunton)
STARTING OVER: Somerset lost all five of its starters from last year’s dramatic five game postseason series against the Barnstormers so the starting pitching rotation gets a complete transformation and face lift.
