Organizational Introduction

Baroda Citizens Council was initiated in 1966 by American Friends Service Committee (Quakers Group from USA), with tripartite partnership of Federation of Gujarat Industries, Vadodara Municipal Corporation & M. S. University of Vadodara.

Right from its inception the Baroda Citizens Council has adopted a non-political approach towards community development. It has innovatively managed in carrying out crucial development work to help the underprivileged, which is not just limited to urban region but has also reached the rural parts of the Vadodara district.

The Council has been supporting several causesthrough its various projects, such as Women & Youth Empowerment, Community Development,Health care, protecting Child Rights, eradication of child labor, providing educational sponsorships to underprivileged children from urban as well as rural children,and Awareness based projects. Currently, BCC is running projects like Rural development program to uplift Luna village in Padrataluka, project on awareness and prevention of HIV/AIDS, Balwadis for underprivileged children, Centres for women suffering from mental health, Centers providing informal education to children, Centres providing vocational training programs to empower women, ChildLine to support children in distress, Day care centre for mentally challenged children, and so on.

BCC can be termed as a catalyst for directing energy of today’s youth towards development and self-sustenance, a support system which links people in need with various Government/Private services.



MISSION – To develop faith of people in themselves and also to improve competence and leadership through self-help approach.

VISION – To emerge as an effective Change Agent and Community development organization integrating voluntary spirit with professional competence.
AIMS and OBJECTIVES

  • Providing a forum for the economically and socially deprived sections of society & promote use of available resources amongst them.

  • To initiate partnership between Public & Private sectors for developing the underprivileged communities.

  • To develop into an Information and Resource centre.

A Glance Through Baroda Citizens Council

Project Name:- CHILDLINE 1098

  • Name of Funding Agency :- Childline India Foundation

  • Name of the Working Areas:- Makarpura, Ravipark, Danteshwar, Indiranagar, Tandalja, Ellora Park, Central Bus Stand, Sayajijung, Gotri Medical, Etc.

  • Two lines for Project:- Childline reaches out to the most marginalized children from

0-18 years. Childline provides relief and rehabilitation in the space of shelter, medical aid, repatriation, rescue, emotional support and guidance.

  • Total No. of Beneficiaries Covered:- 239

  • Target For The Year:- Reach to the maximum people for the awareness and carry out activities related to the

  • Brief Details of Activities:-

  • “Childline Se Dosti Week Campaign” with bhavai and i.e. on Children’s Day will be the perfect day to share about Childline and how they can take help of it when they are in distress or in emergency need. Time decided with the coordination of Operations Manager and i.e. 4:00 to 6:00 when there is maximum no. of people we can reach i.e. from child to old age. Professional group was contacted who performs bhavai on social issues. Information about childline and child labour were shared. On that basis script was prepared and finally performed at Central Bus Depot… Along with it, leaflets on childline were distributed amongst audience.

  • As Childline completed 14 years on 25th April, 2015, a Birthday week from 20th to 25th April, 2015 was celebrated. In which activities like awareness programme in police station, displaying Banners of Childline in different areas of Vadodara as well as railway station - GRP, movie show for unprivileged children @INOX multiplex (Bey yaar).

  • Awareness through TEMPO(four wheeler), in which awareness about childline spread in different areas of Vadodara city on 25/4/15 as well as childline birthday cake cutting with children group at field level.

  • Initiating a unique event of Childline “Make a Wish” arranged a decorated Tree with the wishes of underprivileged children (95) written on paper slip hanged on the tree. This event was organized at Inorbit Mall and Shoppe in the evening of Sunday where maximum no of people visit mall for shopping and outing.

  • The 200 students of standard 5of “Ambe School” were given information regarding . Childline and Child Rights. Puppet show on child abuse and KOMAL CD was shown. Student were given chits in which they had to write questions which they intend to ask and submit it to their respective teachers and their doubts will be solved. This initiative by “Childline” proved to be a successful event.
