water draining from the pond Embankment/wall: hold the water in the pond
Freeboard: Prevent fish from jumping out of the pond water Harvesting basin enables farmer to harvest all the fish in a pond. Screen prevent excessive water in the pond which may lead to collapse of the pond.
STOCKING OFFISH POND Stocking can be defined as the introduction offish into the fishpond for the purpose of rearing. The pond can either be stocked with one species fish
(Monoculture) or two or more species offish (Polyculture) or only one sex offish Mono sex culture) The pond is stocked with the stage offish called fingerlings or juveniles. These are the young fish with size of finger.
PRINCIPLE OF STOCKING FISHPOND Stock the same species offish unless in polyculture Stock same size offish to prevent cannibalism Fish feeding on each other) Do not overstock the pond to enable them have enough space to grow well.
