Electrician’s Mate Chief Peter Allen Johns “If some animals are good at huntingand others are suitable for hunting, then the gods must clearly smile on hunting.” - Aristotle Patience and perseverance are a characteristic of a hunter. Bow hunting requires a high degree of stealth and sheer effort to be successful. It was these traits that Electrician’s Mate Chief Peter Allen Johns honed as an archer and hunter that he is applying to his recovery as a wounded warrior. Chief Johns suffered shocks while conducting electrical maintenance on a high-voltage shore power switchboard aboard the USS Nimitz (CVN 68), Nov. 16, 2006. Due to burns on over 35 percent of his upper body he was transferred to the burn unit at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas for treatment.
Before joining the Navy in 1999, the native of Corpus Christi, Texas, was a high school athlete who played football, ran track, and was a power-lifter.
