For the past twenty-eight years, the ACM Symposium on Applied Computing has been a primary gathering forum for applied computer scientists, computer engineers, software engineers, and application developers from around the world. SAC 2014 is sponsored by the ACM Special Interest Group on Applied Computing (SIGAPP), and is hosted by Seoul National University, Kyungpook NationalUniversity, Soongsil University and Dongguk University.

Track on Cloud Computing
The ACM SAC 2014 Track on Cloud Computing welcomes paper submissions on all aspects of cloud computing research and applications with emphasis on those describing research on different forms of virtualization techniques as applied to systems computing. However the main theme of the CC track for this year is power awareness in data centers or Green data centers. The list of possible topics includes but is not restricted to the following areas:

  • Virtualization of the infrastructure

  • Elasticity in clouds

  • Storage virtualization

  • Green computing models for clouds

  • Energy aware software, hardware and middleware

  • Energy efficient IT architecture

  • Energy efficient resource scheduling and optimization

  • Energy efficient clustering and computing

  • Green data centres, Green IT and Green IS

  • Energy aware resource usage and consumption

  • Green computing case studies

  • Energy efficiency in the Internet of Things

  • Energy efficient cloud architectures

  • Energy aware data storage, computation, scheduling, monitoring, auditing in cloud computing

  • Programming models for clouds

  • Cloud computing for the mobile world

  • Threat handling and security issues in clouds

  • QoS for applications on clouds

  • Optimization and performance issues on clouds

  • Communication protocols for clouds

  • Databases for clouds

This track welcomes theoretical models, algorithms, practical results, description and analysis of experiments and demonstrations of working prototypes of cloud computing applications. Your paper needs to be submitted to the track chairs.

Submission Guidelines

The submissions should be in electronic format (pdf), based on original, unpublished work.. The file format should be PDF. The author(s) name(s) and address(es) must not appear in the body of the paper, and self-reference should be in the third person. This is to facilitate blind review. Only the title should be shown at the first page without the author's information. Papers must be formatted according to the template which is available at the SAC 2014 website:

http://www.acm.org/conferences/sac/sac2014/

Full paper size is limited to 6 pages according to the above mentioned template, being allowed a maximum of 2 extra pages at the additional cost of 80 USD per extra page. Poster papers are limited to 2 pages and no additional pages are permitted. A few key words should be provided. A paper cannot be sent to more than one track. Original manuscripts (regular papers) should be submitted in electronic format through the START Conference manager web site:

https://www.softconf.com/d/sac2014/

Abstracts for the Student Research Competition (SRC) should be submitted in electronic format through the START Conference manager web site:

important notice for the authors

Paper registration is required, allowing the inclusion of the paper/poster in the conference proceedings. An author or a proxy attending SAC MUST present the paper. This is a requirement for the paper/poster to be included in the ACM/IEEE digital library. No-show of scheduled papers and posters will result in excluding them from the ACM/IEEE digital library.

Important Dates
Submission of regular papers and SRC: September 13, 2013

Notification of paper and SRC acceptance/rejection: November 15, 2013

Camera-ready copies of accepted papers: December 6, 2013

Author registration due date: December 13, 2013
