Students from grades K-12 from schools all over the province will compete to earn the title of provincial champion. The Anglophone East School District Chess Tournament took place February 6, 2016. Two students from each grade from every school attended the tournament. Three students from each grade level received medals, while only the top two students went on to the provincials. The match began at roughly 2:30 and continued for the next hour as students battled to win the title of District champion.
In an interview about the upcoming Provincial Chess Tournament with grade 1 gold medal champion Benjamin Osmond he said, āIām gonna win!ā. Benjamin has been practicing at home with both parents and siblings every opportunity he gets. He has also memorized strategies he has seen to be useful while playing chess so that he may use them again later. Benjamin is very excited to play chess this April.
