  • There are some key competencies for responsible group participation; leadership skills, advocating for opinions, effective communication skills, collaboration and tolerance, effective time management skills etc.
  • An active group participation involves taking on a leadership roles at times.
  • Developing leadership skills such as organizing task, delegating responsibilities, monitoring others and guiding the group towards its objectives.
  • For instance, an effective leadership skills involves empowering others, fostering a positive group climate in guiding the group towards its goals.

  • Soliciting for various ideas on the topic we are working on from the group members, be it a group leader or a member of the group you ask for the views on the topic from all the members
  • After soliciting for the views then you deliberate on the issues and come out with the right response.
  • The group should be able to suggest ideas and develop a way of creating solutions and make inform decisions collectively to the effectiveness of the group.
  • This competency involves critical thinking, evaluating alternatives and seeking consensus.

  • Effective communication skills are crucial for expressing ideas and actively listen to others.
  • This requires the members of the group to listen to the various views without divided attention and be willing to support the initiatives of the group.
  • For instance, the individual should be able to express ideas, actively listen to others and promote open and respected dialogue within the group.

4. Collaboration
  • Collaboration is essential in responsible group participation. the ability to work collaboratively with others is vital in a group setting.
  • Learners should be able to contribute their ideas, share their thought and listen to others, compromise and find common grounds in achieving objectives, so that there will be harmony and unity in the group setting.
  • These also involves understanding and appreciating different perspectives, valuing diversity and treating others with kindness, courtesy and fairness.

  • Group setting requires effective time management skills, learners should be able to prioritize task, meet deadlines, mange their time effectively and ensure their contributions are align with the group progress.
  • For instance, every group work has a time bound, the members should be able to work within time assigned for the work to achieve their goals.
  • In conclusion, developing these competencies enhances individuals ability to contribute effectively to the group dynamics and achieve positive outcomes while maintaining responsible and ethical approach to collaboration.
