4. A version of it was first performed in Potsdam in 1881, but due to a lack of success, it was repeated again in 1887. The set-up consisted of a 5 ft square sandstone slab that floated on a bed of mercury in order to dampen any vibrations which might have caused errors in the expected fringe patterns emitted from the sodium light source. However, after rotating the interferometer 90 degrees, no observable fringe shifts occurred, causing the experiment to have a null result. FTP, identify this failed attempt by two scientists to prove the existence of the luminiferous ether.

5. On Feb. 16, 2005, two of the paintings from this series sold for $590,400. The advertising firm Brown & Bigelow commissioned the series of 16 paintings in 1903, however, the most famous painting entitled Looks Like Four of a Kind, was actually an add-on to the series created in 1910. His Station and Four Aces, A Bold Bluff, and A Bachelor's Dog are, FTP all apart of what C.M. Coolidge series named for the titular canines at a card table.
