Beko Condenser Tumble Dryers - safety notice

Over the last few weeks Beko has been made aware of a small number of incidents involving our 6kg & 7kg Condenser Tumble Dryers manufactured between May 2012 and October 2012, where an electrical component has failed and overheated, leading to a potential risk of fire.

We believe that the risk of failure is low but, as a responsible manufacturer, we have decided to initiate a voluntary corrective action program as a precautionary measure.

These products were independently tested before being placed on the market and meet all UK and European safety standards. Nevertheless, we take the safety of our products very seriously and would like to offer a free of charge in-home modification to remove any potential risk with this component.

Check the model number and serial number of your 6kg & 7kg Condenser Tumble Dryer. The serial number is on the rating plate (see below) and is 10 digits long. The first 2 digits of the serial number give the year of production and the last 2 digits give the month of production. All affected products were manufactured between May and October 2012. Please contact us if your model and serial number matches those outlined below.

Then call our free phone number 0800 917 2018 or 1800 25 29 25 in Eire between 8.00am to 8.00pm Monday to Friday and 10.00am to 4.00pm Saturday and Sunday.

We will arrange to visit your home and make a free of charge modification.

Boys Santa Outfit with Hat sold at Poundland - recall

A manufacturing error has been found during a routine quality inspection. During testing some of the pompoms were easily removed which could create a choking hazard to children under 3 years.

As we take the safety of our customers children very seriously we have taken the decision to recall all of the stock. We remain committed to the highest levels of product quality and apologise for the inconvenience this will cause. All actions are being taken to eliminate the problem and restore supplies of this product.

Check the barcode on your purchase and return the item to your nearest store as soon as possible.

We have been made aware that the above Hot Water Bottle sold in our stores between October and December 2012 is missing the required safety warning advising customers that the "stopper" (screw cap) is a potential choking hazard and that the product is not suitable for children under 3 years.

Bugaboo Cameleon and Donkey Carry Handles - safety notice

The following notice has been issued by the retailer:

We have learned from customer reports that under certain conditions, the white button on the carry handle may pop out when the Bugaboo Cameleon or Bugaboo Donkey bassinet/pram body is resting on the ground or is placed on an unstable surface. If the white button pops out, the carry handle may detach on one side.

An external investigation of these reports confirms that the safety risk is low, and no injuries have been reported. While the Bugaboo Cameleon and the Bugaboo Donkey continue to comply with all external regulatory and safety standards, we have improved the carry handle design. We are making this improved carry handle available, along with information about assembly and use, at no cost to customers with a Bugaboo Cameleon or a Bugaboo Donkey.

The Bugaboo Cameleon carry handle is available now. We expect delivery to be 2 weeks from the moment of registration, subject to stock availability. The new carry handle for the Bugaboo Donkey will become available from the end of February 2013 onwards. Bugaboo will follow up with Bugaboo Donkey owners when the new handle becomes available. Until customers receive the new and improved carry handle, they should remove their current carry handle from the pushchair. Bugaboo advises our customers to use the pushchair's harness at all times when going out and about with your child and to make sure the straps are properly secured.

The Bugaboo Cameleon3 (launched September 2012) is equipped with a carry handle that isn’t affected.

The two affected products have shown to be contaminated with Bacillus cereus and several different yeast varieties. The levels of Bacillus cereus detected render the product a potential health risk.

Due to some batches of these blankets not having had their stitching closed off, there is a risk of loose threads presenting a strangulation hazard or other injuries to children.

As a precautionary measure Laura Ashley are carrying out an immediate recall of all batches. The blankets were sold in the UK from November 16th 2011 to 10th January 2013

 If you have a Laura Ashley boy’s red & blue or a girl’s pink fleece blanket, please stop using the blanket and return it to your nearest store for a full refund.

Product is only on sale in our Scottish stores.

Product quality and safety are absolutely paramount for us at Scotty Brand. Our Scotch Broth Soup Mix contains individual sachets of barley. Today (28/1/13) we have been advised that the facility where the barley sachets are packed also handles nuts, therefore we have recognised there is a risk of cross contamination.

Unless you suffer from a nut allergy, this poses absolutely no potential risk to you whatsoever, therefore carry on enjoying your Scotty Brand Scotch Broth Mix.

If you have a nut allergy and have purchased packs with a use by date of between the 29th January to the 3rd of February, please be aware of the possibility of nut contamination.
